Interbay City Rollers fan club newsletter, Vol 1:As we are a week away from kickoff on our opening day match-up against Team Must Be Nice, here's a few notes I have on this week's game!
For week one, I'll be focusing on the QB vs QB matchup. It's an interesting one this week.
Team Must Be Nice (MBN) starts Andrew Luck vs the (cowardly?) Detroit Lions defense, which finished last year ranked 23rd in the NFL in points per game, 15th in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game, and 18th in the NFL in passing touchdowns against. They had 9 interceptions a year ago, which is quite poor. Andrew Luck is projected to have a good day with 19.6 points. Luck is a volume passer, he averages nearly 600 passing attempts per year when he's not injured as he was for much of 2015. He has a career 58% completion percentage, and in 2014 (his best statistical year to date) he scored 40 touchdowns and had 18 interceptions. Last year he played in only 7 games, throwing for 15 touchdowns, but a whopping 12 interceptions in those seven games to go along with.
Meanwhile, your Interbay City Rollers (SLIM) are starting young up-and-comer Derek Carr. Nobody's quite sure what to expect of this phenom this year, but he's got great receiving options and an explosive offense at his disposal. The stat projections are trending upwards in week one against what is statistically one of the worst NFL defenses in the modern era, the New Orleans Saints. Last year The Saints ranked 32nd in points allowed per game, 30th in passing yards allowed per game, and 32nd in passing touchdowns allowed. They also hauled in 9 interceptions last year which along with the Lions, Jags, and 49ers is tied for the third fewest in the NFL. Derek Carr is projected to score 18.8 points this week, but as your team's manager, I'm confident he'll surpass that. Derek is in his third year in the NFL, and is hoping to show the same level of improvement that he showed last year. He throws a few less passes a game than a healthy Andrew Luck, but last year completed 61% of his passes for 32 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
Who will have the better fantasy week? See you all on Sunday...

@TokyoSlim I'm also rooting for Carr to do well. I just need him to target Amari Cooper as much as possible.

I'd think there will be around 3702 TD's to Cooper this week with as bad as the NO defense is. You're welcome for that totally accurate hottake.

I'm not in this league, but I would like to see the teams and how they do. Is there a link people can use to just watch the league?
-
@Lucied It looks like the league currently isn't visible to the public in the settings. @TheOhrenberger would you mind fixing this for all the fans at home if you could?
-
@SabotageTheTruth I'll see what I can do!
I also still plan on updating this thread weekly so you can check here to follow along as well. I'm going to post the current rosters soon and the week 1 matchups. Expect that on Monday or Tuesday!

Edit: Also did the match ups get switched around. I could of sworn I was up against @TheHashtag0nist first.
-
@Swordfish00830 I thought so too. Maybe we were facing off in week 0
-
I think they must have, my match-up also changed.
-
-
@Swordfish00830 it is possible. I changed the number playoff teams to 6 and changed the start date for them to week 14. ESPN probably rebalanced the schedule accordingly for the switch in weeks played.
If I have to make another change between now and Thursday night (I don't think I will have to though) it might change again. Just don't worry about it.
-
@TheOhrenberger You can't change anything, I've already printed up newspapers!

Whoo, Charles bringing in -0.2 points for the Werehogs! I was holding out hope to see if he'd make it to week 1 but.... time for Chris "Plan B" Johnson to take the field.
