Worst Games You've Ever Played

  • What are some of the most awful games you've ever had the displeasure of experiencing? For me I think playing The Quiet Man was pretty damn bad and you have Ride To Hell Retribution which is repugnant-but WWE 2K Battlegrounds has to be among these as some of the worst games I've ever played-oh and game that came out last year called Police Chase is absolutely unforgivably broken and it was deceptively advertised too. What games do you detest?

  • I generally look to the more positive parts of my experiences, but I remember I got Shrek 2 on PC and played it with a friend and it was a point of clarity where I realized licensed games just generally aren't very fun. Someone else probably dug that game but we were pretty upset by the end.

Having known several people who develop in the industry of games and movies, it's hard to be too critical and just say something is bad, but I can definitely recognize problems that I've gone through personally with both. But what I consider bad isn't what others would necessarily.

  • I'd say recently Watch Dogs Legion, don't think I've ever been so bored with something. Might need a moment to think of others

  • @happygaming

Shrek 2?! That was like one of the best Blockbuster 2-day rentals of my childhood! You mean Shrek 1, perhaps?

The worst game I’ve played is probably either Shellshock 2 or some insanely violent game on early-PS3 called like Soldier of Fortune or something like that. Both are hilariously janky, and hilariously violent and ridiculously offensive.

Can’t say I hated them though. Quite literally had a laugh attack rolling on the floor with my friends, cannot catch our breath we’re dying so bad because of this SixAxis mini-game in Shellshock 2 where you shake the enemy off you but you needed to hold the controller like you’d hold a weight and just shake it madly, otherwise you die.

Like we’re talking vigorous jerking motions for 20 seconds. You’ll die of laughter before you die in-game. This is the most aggressive motion mini game ever it’s sooooo broken.

Worst AAA games go to FarCry2, Army of Two, and Shadow of Mordor is a very distant third place. Those games suck so much ass and have horrible design and just outright ridiculous AI. Fuck I hate those two games.

Drive jeep, get ambushed from check point camp, drive more, fight a whole base, gun jams, fix jam, fight more, get shot, take a 12 needles to heal, have a malaria attack, take malaria pills, clear camp, hop back in jeep, get ambushed by another jeep, kill ambushers, fix jeep with wrench, drive jeep, get ambushed from check point again, kill checkpoint, fix jeep again, drive into a fucking wild zebra

  • The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

Not necessarily because it is the worst game I've ever played, but because you expect better from the Zelda name than a bunch of fetch quests strung together. Sucks because the beginning of the game and the artstyle itself are both quite charming, but everything after the first dungeon turns to absolute garbage. I've heard people proclaiming love for the game before, and I'll never get it. Just going to assume it was their first Zelda or something, and that it led them to greener pastures.

Actual worst game I've ever played? Well I did play the beta of Mario Kart Tour.

Also just remembered how awful Dynasty Warriors on PSP was. You were fighting groups of like five dudes at a time.

  • @dipset from what I remember it was specifically the PC version we played on XP. The GameCube or Xbox console versions were altered or different. But it's been some years so I can't be sure.

  • Ridge Racer Unbounded, Virginia, Freedom Wars and Dark Souls II. I don't use the word "hate" much, but I certainly hate these games.

  • The actual worst game I ever played is probably some free indie game from itch.io that I completely forgot about. As for notable games, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5, Resident Evil 6, Resistance 3 and Fallout 76 are some of the worst that I have played.

  • @bam541

Dark Souls 2 pissed me off to no end but I’ve heard it’s better on PS4. But nowhere close to being the worst in my opinion, but some of the design choices in that game are horrific. Especially with levels that lead to nothing and this hollow empty feeling every level brings.

That green swampy level with the lions and doors that lead nowhere is probably one of the worst levels I’ve ever played.

  • @dipset I just personally hate it because it's offensively boring and mediocre enough to the point that it really sucked out the joy of playing these Souls games for me. Thankfully I don't feel that way anymore.

  • PS2 versions of many games in the PS3/X60 era. MUA2 still haunts my dreams.

  • I'm sure I could find something worse if I thought about it more, but the first one to pop into my head is Mighty No. 9.

What a massive disappointment that was, I backed it when Mega Man looked like it would never get another entry, and had so much hope for it.

Terrible art style, pathetic writing and voice acting, awful and unfair level design, unsatisfying controls... I only tried a couple levels and hard quit it, something I rarely do. I might still give it another chance some day, but I don't know if it deserves it.

  • I think Destiny, when it came out. Right at the beginning I was actually impressed with the atmosphere and genuinely hoping for the best. But after a few hours it became such a shallow mechanical experience, doing the same thing over and over. But it's not my kind of game so it might be a me problem.

  • @scotty
What's wrong with the PS2 version of MUA2?

  • @dmcmaster

There is no right thing. :/

  • Grand Theft Auto

  • Banned

    Aliens Colonial Marines.
As a huuuuge Aliens fan I was hype af for a canon videogame entry to the series...
    Dear god, it was horrible.
Horribly downgraded graphics from the previews, completely broken AI that was never fixed (but are caused by a literal typo in the game's code that takes 30 seconds to fix yourself) and all around abysmal performances from the cast.

Gearbox literally stole money from Sega for the better part of a decade to make this travesty, only to shove it off to some third party a year before release to stitch it together into somebody that was by all right not fit for consumption.

  • @el-shmiablo

In 2018 I played this in its worst form (PS3, local split-screen) and had a good fucking time. It’s soooooooo bad that it’s absolutely hilarious. But good call it’s pretty much right up there with Shellshock 2 for me.

If you shoot the guns long enough they stop making noise. Also frame rate just goes down to nothing in split screen. And the graphics on PS3 are so blurry and greenish that is looks like algae is over the camera and on every object. It actually doesn’t look thaaaaaaat bad on PC tho. Idk how Gearbox didn’t get blackballed by the whole industry for this nonsense.

  • Isn't it interesting that Sega didn't do anything legal to Gearbox's obvious scam.

  • @bam541 Why do you hate Virginia and Ridge Racer: Unbounded so much?
