    Thread concept:

The basic idea is to list new games that you are interested in, as well as games you are potentially curious about or want to give wider attention to. You can briefly describe them or ask other people to help fill you in. The hope is that regular threads like these can act as a collective filter/discovery mechanism to help people decide what is worth checking out.

"New games" means any new title that is being released or ported this month in any capacity (not "backlogs/what you are playing this month"). The angle here is sharing your anticipation and promoting game discovery (as opposed to sharing comments about a first playthrough in progress - that belongs elsewhere).

    • If you want a handy list that covers most of the major upcoming games of the month, here's a couple text lists of upcoming games:

Feel free to post other lists or list videos of upcoming releases that you find useful.

    • Final request: If you are the first person to mention a game please provide (at minimum) a short sentence description. (If it is a very big AAA release though, then don't worry about it.) This is a good convention that makes the thread more useful as a discovery mechanism, and especially helps out anyone who doesn't follow the news as closely as you.

  • I just got paid which means I paid rent, bills, and the Christmas gifts for my family. Somehow the damage wasn't too bad and I pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077.

Take in the fact this game was announced in like 2012. I was quite literally a high school virgin non-drinking pipsqueak still living in my parents house when this game was announced. I've since moved 4 times, finished university, and gotten a job that I've had for nearly 4 years.

So much has changed in my life since this game was announced. It's almost concerning that this game still has legs because moods and perceptions change so fast these days that its amazing they've kept us interested for so long. Even minimizing the scale of it, it's still been 5 years since The Witcher 3 so no matter how you spin it, Cyberpunk has been a loooooooong time in the making.

  • I think of all the things I looked at, Override 2 just looks like something I'd be the most down with. Like, fun mechs fighting looks like such a nice time to have.

Nothing against CyberPunk, but there's no chance I'm getting into that right now with all the stuff I have on my burner. That'll be a few months away.

  • Cyberpunk 2077- Could be a GOTY contender, could be a disappointment. Either way, I'm ready to find out for myself.

I was also anticipating Immortals: Fenyx Rising but after playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla, I don't think I'm ready for another Ubisoft open world game right now.

  • I'm in the tiny miny minority but CP2077 doesn't excite me at all. Sure, I want to check it out if the situations are suitable but I am not in a rush. Other than that, there is also nothing really exciting this month. Oh well, classic calm months for gaming this winter times, see you in the spring...

  • Puyo Puyo Tetris 2

It's Puyo Puyo mixed with Tetris and it works better than you can imagine.

  • Twin Mirror was the next game I had my eye on, it released today.

It's a detective, story driven game by the creators of Life is Strange. I haven't enjoyed everything developed by Dontnod, but when I saw they were putting out a psychological thriller with investigative gameplay, I knew I had to try it.

  • Apparently Haven is already released. It's a RPG adventure game by the devs who made Furi, and it's kinda like the opposite of that game. For starters, you're playing as a lovey dovey couple exploring a unknown planet, instead of a violent prisoner trying to break free. Hoping this one is good.

  • After being delayed out of Summer, Pixeljunk Eden 2 is finally releasing. Really looking forward to it.
2D Platformer where you swing around abstract "gardens" while collecting Pollen to grow the garden to progress.
Soundtrack by Baiyon if you remember him from Day of the Devs where he made a song from ice in a cup.

This next one I can't speak as highly of, but lots of people been waiting years and years for it to finally release.
If you're into games like Earthbound, Undertale, or Yume Nikki, then it is probably worth at least keeping an eye on.
Only PC for now, but they've said it'll come to Switch later in the past if you want to wait for that.
