Guess the Open Critic 2021


  • Hello all, the new year is almost here, so I guess that means it’s time for another Guess the Opencritic™. I have decided to introduce a new mechanic this year, but for those unaware how the basics of the game work, the general rules are as follows:

    1. I will give you a list of video games, and your job is to guess what score you think it will get on the review aggregator site, Opencritic.
    2. You can also guess delays, or even cancellations if you think it likely.
    3. You can’t guess both a score and delay for the same game.
    4. You will get points depending on how close you are to the score each game receives.
    5. You technically don’t have to guess for each game listed, but I recommend it. Any points are good points.

    Now, onto the new mechanic. This year, I am introducing Wildcard games. These are games that might come out in 2021, but are not officially slated as such. There aren’t a lot of them, but I tend to feel bad excluding games based on technicality, which would have been the case for heavy hitters like Far Cry and Dying Light. I did throw some wild ones in there for fun though. Here are the rules for Wildcard games:

    1. Like the normal games, you are to guess what score you think they will get on Opencritic.
    2. However, you are NOT allowed to guess a delay for them, as they don’t technically have a 2021 date anyway.
    3. You ARE, however, able to guess a cancellation if you so choose.
    4. Again, you technically don’t have to guess for each game listed, but I recommend it, you can’t lose points for guessing.

    The grading system is as follows:

    Exact Score = 12 points
    1 point off = 9 Points
    2 points off = 8 Points
    3 points off = 7 Points
    4 points off = 6 Points
    5 points off = 5 Points
    6 points off = 4 Points
    7 points off = 3 Points
    8 points off = 2 Points
    9 points off = 1 Point
    Game is delayed or cancelled without guessing as such= 0 Points
    Guess a delay = 5 Points
    Guess a cancellation = 15 points

  • don't see many delays of whats announced apart from whats in the wildcards god of war is a possibility though.
    kena seems like it should be a lock but i have a hinge of worry about that game.
