Best Videogame Deserts
-
What arid or semi-arid videogame deserts do you like the most? I like Tierra Robada from GTA: San Andreas.
-
Damn, I always mix up desert and dessert. I was expecting to see some Final Fantasy XV cakes and treats.
That aside, I can't think of a better sandy location off the top of my head than Journey. It's got so many layers, moods, colors that all mix with the story being told. That iconic shot is just so beautiful and sprawling, and makes you feel so small.

Lanayru Desert from Skyward Sword!
Love the gameplay there, with the time stones that make the world around them appear as it was in the past, super cool effect and puzzles. The Sandship is a fun dungeon too.

Big fan of videogame deserts here, but I'm easy. Give me one and I'm happy.
Will go with Mad Max just because the whole game centers around it.
Assassin's Creed Origins has a good desert too, a big giant waste of space that I love.

Vibes.
@Axel yes yes yes

Basically the entirety of Assassin's Creed Origins. I've been playing Odyssey a bit lately but still find Origins to be the more memorable game, mostly because of the environment.
Every time I would make it to a new area Of look around to see if I could still see pyramids or other recognizable locations. Very neat.

It's super linear and short, but I really like Uncharted 3's desert walk section, mostly because of the trippy hallucinations stuff. If the other parts in the desert counts, then I put them here as well (especially the hidden city, really love the architecture style of that place).
I don't know if this counts, but Futaba's desert themed palace in Persona 5 was super cool, and it had one of the best tracks of the game too.

@mbun I just want to run around those Mario Kart deserts as Mario and go off course.

Nobody? Really!? Interesting...
Btw, it's the best set-piece moment in a video game ever.
-
@scotty Damn I don't know how this one slipped my mind!

Yeah, I didn't notice it because of focusing thumbnails of the shared videos.
