EZA GOTY Inspections and Criticisms

  • TLG >>>>>>> DOOM

  • @dipset I haven't played TLG and I still agree.

I think you are mistaking a vocal minority of disgruntled chuds for "a large portion" of fans.

No, you're definitely waving away criticism because of the controversy before launch, but plenty of people who went through the game also weren't happy with the direction of the narrative.

Literally no other game came even remotely close to presenting as compelling and complex a narrative as TLOU2 did.

I know you didn't play much else in 2020, so I'm just going to hard disagree instead of saying more.

  • By the way as we discuss goty, and TLoU2 both in critics and people's choice impressive numbers.

  • @scotty

    Man effing spoilers!!!

  • @scotty Dude some of us haven't watched the entire EZA GOTY stream-I know this sort of thing slips out but I think we treat EZA GOTYs like films or videogames and don't want them spoiled.

  • @Phbz @JDINCINERATOR

I thought it was okay because others talked about it in the thread but sorry to offend you guys. If I knew it was a problem I definitely wouldn't do it since I hate spoilers.

@bam541 said in EZA GOTY Inspections and Criticisms:

Also, Uncharted 4 got snubbed! :p

To this day, I still get sad when I remember Overwatch won over Uncharted 4 or in this case The Last Guardian.

  • @scotty No offence taken dude just be mindful of others who maybe a little more sensitive.

  • @jdincinerator @Phbz Unless it slipped out elsewhere, they're currently debuting the video on both Twitch and Youtube and haven't gotten to overall GOTY yet.

  • @miserableperson

    Ahahaha. Yeah...

    2005 GOTY:

Literally just finished GoW again on PS Vita then watched this. Wow! 2005 was a very good year but GoW is too low. :/

@mbun Would love to hear what you think had a better narrative in 2020.

    --

Glad to see TLOU2 break that record. Honestly deserves it. I have a few gripes with the game but they are honestly minor compared to everything that the game excelled at. I hope they don't rush the next one. If it comes even close to the quality of TLOU2 I'll be happy.

  • @el-shmiablo I do have big issues with the narrative structure. I do love the story it tells and its themes but structurally - imo - it's messy.

  • @el-shmiablo Just to be clear where I stand on TLoU Part 2, most games in 2020 probably had a better narrative, given how low of a bar we're setting here. Shade aside, a more serious answer would be Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Hades easily. Beyond that, I need to see more of 13 Sentinels, but I think that's a good one to check out as well.

@phbz Absolutely agree. I personally think the story should have been told in a more linear, chronological fashion, as it would give weight to certain decisions made by certain protagonists, and made it slightly easier to empathize with them after they made said decisions.
Then again, I think it was their intention to paint said protagonist in a horrible, terrible light before elaborating on why they made that choice. I just think the aforementioned linearity would have helped the dumb chuds who decided to hate the game from the jump because of their daddy issues see that, actually, said character deserved what they got.

  • @scotty You were innocent!

  • @phbz

    I was...

  • I think Doom is amazing and times better than Doom Eternal and have platinumed Doom. TLG > Doom

  • For Doom to be worse than TLG, Doom guy had to move stumbling through the levels, with the PS4 struggling to reach 30fps while running PS3 graphics, and the AI enemies just stood there looking confused at you, and even then it would just be a tie.

    Anyway I joke.
