@yoshi Yeah, I've been pretty curious about Fusion for awhile, but I think the only way I can really play it rn is the Wii U Virtual Console, so not jumping to go do that.
-
@mbun if you already have a Wii U it's worth picking up on the Virtual Console to at least experience the game.
i wouldn't go out of my way to buy a whole Wii U console to play it if you don't have one though.
fusion's not the best metroid but it is definitely a fun little game on the GBA. i still much prefer Super Metroid and the Prime games though

I'm liking this game a lot so far. I think I'm about 2 thirds in. The level design is excellent, I like how the game always leads you to the next point where you need to go without actually telling you where to go. Even if you do get lost the map is so detailed that you can easily find the spots where you can use your new power-ups.
-
ok i managed to beat the energy tank puzzle that was pissing me off finally. turns out i just hadn't obtained an upgrade i needed yet.
-
Good to know!
-
Got it new with a 20% discount. Should arrive in a couple of days.
-
k got all the power ups now. going to do a final lap of each map 100%ing everything before i go to face the final boss

I was excited to see Metroid Dread has a Hard Mode, but sadly it seems like the modern Nintendo lazy type of Hard Mode instead of a well crafted one. Just making enemies do more damage is so lame compared to putting more enemies on the map, disabling the generous quick respawn after Game Over and instead kicking you back to your last hard save, removing some refill stations, making enemies drop less health and ammo pickups on death, etc. Those things could've made Dread feel more like the original Metroid in a very fun way, which also would more justify it being locked behind beating the game on Normal once. Instead, it is just get hit less mode, which should be an option out the gate for people who want the challenge. Also, one more change I'd want but spoilery so putting it behind tags below:
Reduce the time you have to escape during the end sequence.

Do not look at the below spoiler unless you've already gained access to the traditional Morph Ball Bombs.
If you sequence break and get the Morph Ball Bombs before Kraid, not only can you quick kill his second phase, but there's a Special Cutscene reward for how you do it. It is SICK, in more ways than one, and that's awesome the devs built something like this into the game. Makes you wonder if you're really actually sequence breaking at that point or not.

Huh.

Have been playing it, so far a "good, not great" kinda game. Really dig the sound design.

OMG that's rediculous. I'm selling my copy right away and writing a strongly worded email directly to Nintendo on how they're ripping people off.
-
@sheria I mean, that seems like a bit much, but maybe you should
-
@phbz That's about where I'm at with Metroid Dread. It's a solid game but nothing has wowed me yet.
