Overwatch (PC/PS4/XB1)

  • If Deathmatch turns out to be alright, I think it could honestly take some of the more 'negative' players away from quick play. At least that's what I hoping.

I've never really given total mayhem a look. I'm a bit surprised it isn't completely broken with Zarya and Dva.

  • @tokeeffe9 D.va is disgusting in total mayhem - I usually don't die, at all. Pharah is fun as well, since you can fly to unreasonable heights.

  • Might check it out for a laugh sometime.

We got some more changes coming in with the Deathmatch. Some pretty big buffs to the looks of it

Overwatch PTR changes - 10th August

    Junkrat

    • Concussion Mine
      • Junkrat can now hold two mines
    • RIP-Tire
      • Tire’s movement speed has been increased by 30%
      • There is no longer a time limit when wall climbing

So Junkrat can do a triple jump now, a lot more chaos in narrow areas and his Ult is a bit stronger.

    Orisa

    • Fusion Driver
      • Projectile speed increased by 20%
    • Protective Barrier
      • Barrier size increase by 20%
      • Barrier shape has been changed to allow for more coverage from enemies that are below the barrier

Orisa was already in a decent enough place I thought. The last buff made her a lot more useable and this sounds like a really big buff for her.

    Roadhog

    • Take a Breather
      • Can now be used while moving
      • Damage taken while healing has been reduced by 50%

Still don't like the sound of this buff but it is one. It just doesn't fix the issues with Roadhog.

    Widowmaker

    • Grappling Hook
      • Cooldown has been reduced from 12 seconds to 8
    • Venom Mine
      • Affected targets are now visible through walls (to you as Widowmaker only)

I imagine a lot of Widow players are weeping with joy. That grapple buff has been mentioned by just about everyone for a long time. Never made sense to me why it was on such a long cooldown. Seeing the affected target through walls is a pretty cool buff too.

  • @tokeeffe9 Oh man, Zarya is a beast in total mayhem which might be why I play her all the time (I play her a lot in most modes)
It's just a fun mode to play if you want arcade wins and don't love the other choices.

  • Loving those Orisa changes! Can't wait to see them when/if they go live!

  • Reporting coming to Console

Reporting on console will be available when patch 1.14 goes live (the patch that has DM and TDM and is currently on the PTR for testing).
Thanks for being so patient with us.
Also, it's important to note the reporting system and punishments are very much an ongoing development for us. Improvements will continue over time. We are working on increased punishments for high frequency offenders, email notifications when your reports result in disciplinary action (we're experimenting with this right now and we'll expand this as we refine it) and eventually notifications in the game client when your report results in disciplinary action.

Hopefully this is the beginning of better reporting all round.

@Inustar I played a few rounds the other day and ya, Zarya is insane in that mode :)

  • Oooooh, can't wait to see all the people being reported on console for terrible reasons...
But I am happy to see reporting arriving on consoles, it's about time, even though I know it's gonna have considerable growing pains.

I'm super excited for Team Deathmatch, not so sure about regular Deathmatch, but that's mostly due to me being terrible and needing teammates 😊

  • @Inustar After this season of competitive, I'm fully on board with reporting coming to consoles. I wanted to make it into diamond this go around, but I can't count the number of people throwing matches or leaving early (even when we're winning). I'm sure it'll be abused but Jeff has hinted at punishments for false reports as well, so hopefully it's not too much of a mess.

  • As someone who's pretty burned out on Overwatch, I'm very much looking forward to just booting up deathmatch every once in a while and going for frags. Good time to introduce the game mode I feel.

  • @OddMan11 With arcade I think it's always a good idea to be adding things. Doesn't really hurt the core of the game, but it helps with the burnout.

  • A new short and a new escort map coming soon! :D

  • Some really big changes in the works for D. va as well!

    Youtube Video

Considering I usually play her as a harasser, this is some great news. Being able to fire while flying is something I've wanted for awhile, plus add in some burst damage? My favorite tank is somehow becoming more of my favorite.

  • @SabotageTheTruth These changes sound great. I think a lot of people were sick of the shield and making D.va more aggressive sounds great.

Hopefully it should help with countering Pharah a bit more too.

I wonder if the changes for Junkrat, Orisa, Roadhog and Widow will come today.

  • New Short :D

    Youtube Video

  • I just want to point out that one of Mei's coworkers was named Macready.

    I love these shorts.

  • @Inustar I love the shorts too. That was a really cool one. I did feel like there was a bit too much exposition early on but still, good stuff.

Just to continue the stream of OW news recently (feels like everyday now), sounds like we're going to see some significant changes to Mercy very soon too. More in the article (PCgamesN ) but basically the principle designer said there are "interesting and sweet changes" coming soon for Mercy.

  • The Mercy changes I spoke of are huge!

    Youtube Video

  • @tokeeffe9 Love this change. As he mentioned, there is nothing more disheartening than coordinating taking a point/killing most of the enemy team, and Mercy swooping in and resurrecting everyone just because she was hiding. The most annoying ultimate in the game is now gone, yay! Valkyrie sounds fun (probably not fun enough to make me play Mercy) but I'm wondering just how long the up-time is on it.

  • @SabotageTheTruth

    PTR patch notes

The Ult lasts 20 seconds which is a fair bit of time. I really like the change too. It should lead to a lot more skill based play now that a lot of Mercy's won't look for that huge rez and they can consistently be reviving people.

The D va changes are in there too if you're looking for specifics and there is one really nice change for Reinhardt, when you hold down the primary fire button while holding the shield, you can control the camera and look around you. That extra awareness is a nice little buff for Rein.

Blizzard have been on a roll with OW recently. Still not a fan of the Roadhog change but I like everything else.

  • Yup. I really agree @SabotageTheTruth

Mercy's ult is one of the most unenjoyable things in a multiplayer game.
