Opening Cinematics

@michemagius Ooooo, Persona openings, sooooo gooood.
@matt That opening's music has been my ring tone for years. Still my favorite MM over all others.
Now I'm trying to remember some cinematic openings I can be proud to share my love of...
-
final fantasy 8's opening always stuck with me sadly the rest of the game is just didnt stick with it .

For me its the intro to Max Payne 2. There are better ones sure, but this game is special to me. The first one where I really got sucked in by the story, the moment when I realized that the story is the thing that I am most interested in.
-
I was a fan of Mk Armageddon opening. Just seeing all those characters going at it like that was really cool. Best thing about the game probably lol
-
All the Persona intros are great as you mention, but I always think of this one when thinking of great intros, or at least the first few seconds
I knew this game was going to be something different right after that.

first off Dank Souls 3...
this fucking intro got me so god damn pumped to play the game holy shit.
Youtube Videosecond Tales of Zestiria, when i first watched it i was like, FUCK YES TALES IS DBZ NOW!!!! to bad the game turned out to be garbrge.

Tales of Zestiria's opening was amazing. It's not often I'll watch the opening cinematic every time I load up a game, but I did for that.
Recently I've been enjoying FFXIV's opening: https://youtu.be/1mRzWLRWOXc

Part artful and part trippy, I recently had the joy of adding this one to my favorite intros of all time.

FFXIV opening gives me goosebumps every time I see it, great pick!!
I also remember FFXI and World of Warcraft having a similar feeling back in their beginning.

@PixelRadio Yeah, getting into World of Warcraft back in the day when I was young and would play with my cousin was super hype. Y'know, before I had figured out the formula and how everything in MMOs was just copy-paste, laissez faire, wallet-vampirism, digital slavery bullshit.
But anyway, it was exciting going from that cutscene to Shadowglen, leveling up my rogue throughout Teldrassil and Kalimdor. I think the magic wore off by about Desolace (this was pre-cata). By then the quests were more transparent menial tasks and there weren't even that many menial tasks to do, just a lot of walking and terrible combat. But a good intro to be sure.
-
This may be spoilers if your on media blackout for Danganronpa V3 so if that's the case, don't watch it. But, I think V3's intro is the best in the series.

This is my first time seeing this thread and the first thing that came to my mind was Tales of Zestiria. All I need to say was already summed up by others.

I havne't been impressed by a game intro in over a decade, but I Expect You To Die on Playstation VR blew my socks off.
The intro isn't worth pasting here because it's nothing without VR. But IN virtual reality, it places you INSIDE a spoof of the motion graphic introductions of James Bond. It even has it's own theme song. It's smart and clever and funny and beautiful. At the end I felt like clapping and then went, "oh what the heck..." and started clapping anyways.
