Fight against spam
-
I'm new on these forums - is there a way for me to flag them without clicking on the post itself? Not that it really matters I suppose - just an extra click in the end.
-
Thanks @tokeeffe9 for locking things up this morning. I'm scrubbing the remnants away.
-
This is kinda BS, as there's again around 30 spam threads. Is there nothing more permanent solution to prevent them from coming?
-
@Sentinel-Beach I for one am happy we've been overrun with spam. They keep advertising a black magic specialist and that's exactly what I've been looking for.
-
Black Magic specialist? Well I'm sold.
-
My neighbours cat keeps peeing in my garden... perhaps some black magic could help?

+1 for the Anger reference haha

I still see spam posts every once in awhile on here, which is a shame. It gets annoying after awhile. :(
For example, there are currently spammed posts in the Gaming Discussion, General Discussion, and Comments sections of the forums.
-
@jifw52 For sure it happens every so often but we do our best to get rid of it as soon as we can.
-
@jifw52 you can't really stop spam, you can only put up roadblocks and get rid of it as fast as possible.
-
@tokeeffe9 Would more moderators help the situation any? I know we're a relatively small forum so having an army of moderators may seem imposing, but a few more to the list may help removing the spam that appears.
-
Probably not a conversation to be had here but more is definitely not the answer. We will try to improve the situation though.
-
Damn, this year has begun with a lot of spam. Now again like a dozen threads here.
-
Yeah, it's getting worse every day.
Couldn't there be a system in place that prevents a newly-registered user to create more than one topic in the first 24 hours, for example?
-
@Axel That would only delay the spamming by 24 hours unfortunately.
-
Help us mods! Your people suffer!
-
I dont think it is AS bad as some experience it. Ofcourse we have loads of spam posts coming, but it also seen to be in waves. there can be like a month with nothing, then a few days where there are like 50 threads.
We just need somehow to delay it or be more on top of it. We can't however expect to always be there
-
Cleaned up. We already have some things in place.
That said we'll take any additional suggestions. If someone is familiar with a particular tool that would help with the forums, please PM me.
