    • RE: Thank You!

Obviously not everyone watches Cup of Jones, but he has talked about it quite a bit. I have full confidence that he isn't jumping the gun on the studio. But also we're at 51K already. It's obvious that the surge has gotten people excited to up their pledges. So it might well be somewhat inflated. I'm sure the guys well look extra closely at the numbers in july and august. My fear is that the people who got excited might go back to their original pledge and there will be a higher than usual drop. But regardless, huge, huge moment. I'm absolutely optimistic that the guys will be out of the garage by the end of the year.

    • RE: [Official] What are you playing?

So, I recently I seem to have a different gaming itch every other day. After really needing to kill some stuff last week (which I did in Wolfenstein 2 and Dying Light) yesterday I felt this urge to go deep into an Open World. So I thought about getting Black Flag on the most recent PSN sale, but that didn't quite feel right, also considered getting back into Skyrim, or finally getting around to playing Witcher 3. But I kinda wanted something more Japanese, and man, there really aren't too many Japanese Open World Games. So finally, I got up early today, and bought Breath of the Wild. I've never really gotten into Zelda too much (the one I played the most was one of the Oracle Games on Game Boy Color). But the first couple of hours in BotW really made me feel like I might just fall in love with this series after all.

@mbun I agree that nostalgia, especially with Nintendo, is a very loaded word. But I don't think legacy is quite right, either. The thing about nostalgia is, that it's something you can feel as well. Legacy is more of a agreed upon thing. But we're talking semantics here, so who really cares.
Again, I would never say that Zelda is popular for nostalgias sake, since I've not played any of the more recent ones. And I also don't mean nostalgia in a negative context in this case. But I do I think, that some of the magic comes from the personal history people have with Zelda.
The same way, I still feel very strongly about Final Fantasy, even though I haven't loved one since X, or Kingdom Hearts, which hasn't seen a full console-release in more than 10 years.
Lore gaps are definitely the least of the problem here. I'm sure I might enjoy BotW, but I think there is something to be said for the bond you can have with a gameseries.

    • RE: Legendary series you've never played.

@futurecorpse Oh yeah, Metal Gear was the first thing that came to mind for me too. Although I had MGS 2 back during the PS2 era, I couldn't really get past the first couple of hours. Tried to get into 4, couldn't make it past the first hour and then I finally got the MGS 1+2 collection on Vita, and couldn't get past the first couple of hours in either game. So, by now I've accepted, it ain't gonna happen.

Monster Hunter I just have no interest in at all.
I've been tempted to play The Witcher a couple of times now, I'm sure that one I will actually play at some point.
Never played Shenmue, and since it doesn't seem to have aged too well, I probably won't unless it gets a Remake. But Huber did a stream, right? I'd probably watch that.

I think my hugest, though, is Zelda. Although not true, because I played a couple of the mobile ones and started OoT and MM, I never really played any of the big games. And by now I feel I missed the boat. I think a lot of what Zelda is, is nostalgia. Not that the newer games aren't great, I'm sure they are. But I think to people like Kyle and Damiani a big part of the magic is recapturing that child-like wonder. I'm kind of sad I won't ever have that relationship with Zelda.
Never really got into RE, besides playing a little coop RE5 and started PE4 but couldn't get into it.

All in all, I at least tried most "legendary games" at least enough to know, they aren't for me.

    • RE: Annoying Gaming Censorship

@axel They are just called "the regime" and instead of a Führer, there is a chancellor.
And instead of the Swastika, you get this weird symbol

Oh, and the funniest thing: Hitler is clean shaven. Because apparently, we draw the line at mustaches. I'm really unsure if i should sell the game and try to get a uncensored copy, but to be honest I don't care about the game that much, so I don't think I actually want to pay another 20,30 €.

    • Annoying Gaming Censorship

So, I just got myself Wolfenstein 2, partly because the allies couldn't stop talking about it, and partly because I felt a deep urge to kill me some Nazis.
      And well, I can't.
See, I'm from Austria, that cool, little country right under Germany. And the Germans take their anti-Nazi laws real seriously. So any Nazi-symbols (i.e. Swastikas) and general references to Nazis are often not allowed in entertainment media, especially games for some reason. In Austria that's usually not a big deal, and we get the uncut version. But for some reason Bethesda decided to release the german cut of Wolfenstein 2 here as well.
And yeah, it kinda sucks. No references to Nazis, no Swastikas, and my guess is, a certain infamous scene won't be in there either. Also no english dub (although for once the german dub is actually pretty decent). It shouldn't be that big of a deal, but man, I just really wanted to kill some Nazis.

Anyway, besides just wanting to vent about that, I figured why not make it a broader topic. So here my question:
What's the weirdest, most annoying piece of Gaming censorship you have ever encountered?

    • RE: Easy Allies in Concert

Thanks, I like that shirt a lot. The show was amazing as well, obviously. Jones is one hell of a multi-talent, best VO in the biz, amazing at leading EZA and goddamn, can he sing. Box Peek looks awesome, as well. Kyle is such a unique artist. And I loved every single other bit too. Loved Bloods rap, loved Ultima Brads return, loved Dons what-ever-the-hell-that-was, loved all the songs. Just a really jolly experience, even watching at home.

PS: All hail to Middle Guy!

I expect full documentation of your IRB approval process prior to filling this form out.

JK fuck the IRB, they're assholes. Submitted. Good luck!

:D Lucky for me, I'm not from the US. No IRB to deal with.

Thanks to everyone who has answered so far, you guys are the best.
