I loved me some space channel 5! Weird story... all of the games I love, I at first hated with a dire passion. I stink at them and quickly blamed the game itself. The reality? I didn't have rhythm! I couldn't for the life me of, get past the first encounter in space channel five. Now I can easily get to the asteroid field with no issues. It does get super tough from there on out, but it is possible.
I have space channel 5 part 2 on pc, but I have yet to fire it up. Why? I have no idea.
@Sentinel-Beach He did indeed play it that long. The final time was 18 hours and some change in game. Bosman bowed out around 5 hours prior-ish.
All I gotta say is, after coming in and out of the full play through by Michael Huber, he is a certified hero. What an experience and what a crazy game! Will definitely be watching it in its entirety later when uploaded.
I am of the Kyle Bosman approach to horror games. I enjoy watching them, but can't play them.... NOPE!
I'm going to throw out a very odd choice, the Myst games. Hear me out. You can tackle the ages in any order, freely explore (more so in the later titles that allow free roaming) and encapsulate this barren nothingness of civilizations long past.
Ian Hinck talks up Myst Online URU Live and that is an amazing example. The world has depth and lore that is Tolkien in scale and is an absolutely blast to play, explore and just relax. Nothing can compare for me in the world of barren mystery!
I am playing Left 4 Dead 2 with a friend of mine. It is the first time for me and I am loving it. Everything is better with friends and nothing is more fun than turning on the Jaden Smith tweet mod that turns all the wall writing into his manic tweets and messing each other up! It is a blast!
I am also staring blankly at my SNES Classic and wondering what to play next. I've beaten Super Mario RPG, Star Fox, Super Mario World, A Link to the Past and Donkey Kong Country. I have never played any other titles on the system and try8ng to figure out what to play next. Any suggestions?
I love rhythm games of all types, but for me, the ones I love most are the oddball story-based ones. Parappa the Rapper, Elite Beat Agents, Space Channel 5 etc. are all games I absolutely adore for their charm.
One of my all time favorites has to be Samba De Amigo. The style, the song selection and the overall silliness of playing with the maraca controller. I have spent so much time on that game that is drinks on obsession, getting 100% on every song on both the original and the Japanese sequel, V. 2000 with a controller and getting the majority of songs at 100% with the innacurate maracas.
There is just something about that series that really clicked with me on all fronts and it is an absolute shame that the Wii sequel just didn't work well. They at least needed to have a traditional control option as the soundtrack was spectacular, but the motion controls were even more inaccurate than the original maracas.
So far, my favorite has definitely been Hestu from Breath of the Wild. I love the weirdo characters from the Zelda franchise, be it Tingle, the mask salesman or Guru-Guru, the weird windfall guy.
The dance for the korok seeds, the maraca shaking that makes me think of Samba De Amigo, and that all too familiar crack of confetti all contribute to an iconic character that is one of many that defines Breath of the Wild.
My take from this message was that there was little leeway to help mitigate the cost of the development. AAA games are insanely expensive to make and that $60 price tag is just not covering it any more.
I didn't read the post as the game needed to be multiplayer, but may have wanted to go the sandbox route. There is a ton of reasons that could be a possibility, but we just don't know what the truth really is. With the way that EA runs its business, you can be sure that it relies heavily on metrics and market trends and there could have been things like it not being a real stream friendly game, or like they said, too linear. Who knows. It is a shame that we as consumers get left in the dark about it to contemplate.
@Lexad said in Pokemon GO coming out today:
Not sure how I feel but I have added 9 to the pokedex and caught 13. Not sure how I feel about catching 50 clefairy's to evolve it though. That seems insane
You actually just need 50 candy to evolve it, which is a little over 13 jigglypuffs. You get 3 candy for catching one and 1 candy for transferring it to the professor.
