In the last three years I have played almost exclusively JRPGs from the SNES/Genesis to PS2/Gamecube eras. Some of them I had played before but never completed, quite a few I hadn't even played at all. It really brought back my love for gaming in a BIG way.

RE: Anyone here from NeoGaf?
Honestly the new lack of transparency for the modding team makes me wonder if there are no mods anymore.

RE: Anyone here from NeoGaf?
Welp, NeoGAF is back. I won't be though. I am glad I will be able to still find the old threads filled with information though.

RE: Anyone here from NeoGaf?
The article is pretty damning for Evilore, even though it was obvious at this point. I will miss Neogaf, but I certainly won't miss him.

RE: Anyone here from NeoGaf?
I am still worried it will end up being some kind of elaborate troll.

RE: Anyone here from NeoGaf?
@ToonLink Exactly. You can't fight hatred by ignoring it, it only grows more rampant if you do.

RE: Anyone here from NeoGaf?
@TokyoSlim Definitely give it a shot, the OTs were some of the most useful posts on games out there. I'll miss them greatly.

RE: Anyone here from NeoGaf?
@Torigasa-Reta Umm, no? 99% of the games I play are Japanese in origin, I took Japanese courses in University, and watch more anime than is healthy. Heck, NeoGAF as a whole leaned heavily on Japanese games. I just don't support hate speech and harassment and that's what GG is, it has nothing to do with Japan.

RE: Anyone here from NeoGaf?
@DMCMaster People were banned for supporting gamergate, which is a hate movement. Not for "just wanting to have a discussion". If sexism and hate are the kind of 'opinions' I have to respect to be on these forums then it is probably not the right place for me.

RE: Anyone here from NeoGaf?
@jaggafredde I would prefer if we didn't let the trolls and Nazis win. It will definitely be tough to get past them though, so we'll see.

RE: Anyone here from NeoGaf?
It will be odd to lose all our post history, but I am glad they aren't trying to make it new and different. Hope the site works out and moderation stays strong.
I will have to make the decision whether or not to keep my old username.
Wish I was part of the discord so I could join the discussion.

RE: Anyone here from NeoGaf?
@Minamik I really know nothing of Tom's ban, so I won't comment on that, but as to your second point:
I wouldn't say that a localizer's job is to stick as close to the script as possible, or else we would have awful literal translation everywhere. A localizer's job is not just to translate, but to localize, which means making the script and the game work for the new audience and hopefully retaining the spirit and culture of the original.

RE: Easy Allies got me into building Gunpla!
@Minamik I would if I could! I am thinking either the MG Justice or MG Freedom 2.0 next, but even the choice between the two is near impossible.

RE: Anyone here from NeoGaf?
@dmax3901 I agree with you there, I have seldom seen someone complain of an unfair ban be able to prove that they weren't just being a jerk. There was the whole admin who was banning people off the books thing though.

RE: Anyone here from NeoGaf?
I am Fou-Lu over at Neogaf. I am honestly in shock over the potential loss of that site. It has been my main source of gaming news and discussion for 10 years. No matter its flaws the size of the community, quality of OTs, and level of discussion was/is second to none in video games. The loss of the Essential RPG, EZA OT, what JRPG are you playing, and various game OT threads are a huge blow for me. Plus the amount of love for lesser known gems was a beautiful thing. Say what you will about its 'far-left' leanings and heavy handed moderation, but it kept out the GamerGate crazies quite efficiently. I can't see anywhere replacing it effectively.

RE: Easy Allies got me into building Gunpla!
I had just gotten into Gunpla before the first building stream and it felt like fate. I now have three beautiful master grades (Amazing Red Warrior, Exia Dark Matter and the Nu Gundam Ver Ka) that hang out in my apartment. I just finished assembling the funnels for the Nu Gundam during the last stream. I have been trying to decide what to buy next and the options are just overwhelming!

I just met a fellow ally on the bus!
I was on my bus home and watching the new community comments video when a guy sat down in front of me. I noticed he was watching the community comments video too! I talked to him briefly, but unfortunately my stop was the next stop. It was still a really cool coincidence. This happened in Ottawa, Ontario btw.

RE: The EZA Dungeons & Dragons Community Thread
@elerac There are srds for both Pathfinder and D&D5E which are incredibly helpful for doing online campaigns one way or the other, but also give you a chance to familiarize yourself with the rules and see if you'd like to use one of them.

RE: The EZA Dungeons & Dragons Community Thread
We talked about this over on Neogaf Ben and I think it's an awesome idea. As I mentioned over there it might be interesting to get something play by post instead of live going since the main issue with these always seems to be conflict of timezones and lifestyles. I wanted to participate in the one a few months back, but was really busy at the time.

Games so good you are surprised they aren't more popular?
I recently beat the first Shadow Hearts and I am at least half way through the second. Not only was the first an amazing mix of Onimusha/Devil May Cry/Legend of Dragoon, but the second is even better. It's amazing it took me so long to play these games, but it's a simple truth that not many people mention them. I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of Shadow Hearts: Covenant it becomes one of my favourite games of all time, it's already basically there, it just needs to keep it up.
What are some games which you have similar feelings about that you wish more people would give a chance?
