I think Sony would make a killing. Great idea.

RE: Easy Allies Podcast - Official Discussion Thread
@Whoaness I was sad to see the Demon's Souls connections cut from Bloodborne, and wonder how many others were trimmed. Given that Dark Souls 3 carries so much fanservice from the first game, an interesting dichotomy in that regard.
On a From tip, i'm excited for what Yui Tanimura does next. I think the man's a genius, and Scholar Of The First Sin means the world to me.

RE: What is your favorite game and why?
Scholar Of The First Sin.
Became an incredibly personal game for me, with a story which continues to fascinate and ignite me, dancing back and forth with very real world stuff which became a huge part of the experience.
Beyond that, the fascinating development process - spotlighting the sheer genius of Yui Tanimura. A man who not only came onboard to rescue a broken game and get it shipped on time, but as solo director created some of Souls very finest levels as the Three Crowns Trilogy DLC. Still refusing to let the game go Tanimura continued with Scholar, remixing enemy placements, story, continuity, as well as introducing the character of the Scholar himself.
I continue to be utterly smitten with it.
But never forgetting the magnificence of Demon's Souls.
Still a terrifying enigma, with stunning design work and a world which pushes needles into me whenever I play it.
I've been here since importing the US Special Edition all those many moons ago, and I still can't quite get the measure of Miyazaki's first Souls game.

RE: Where are you from?
Close to Nottingham [Robin Hood & all that], in England.
-
RE: What Podcasts (besides the obvious EZAP and Frame Trap) do you listen to?
Beyond Easy Allies/Frame Trap, 8-4 Play is always a fab - and near instant - listen.
Otherwise I veer between Chomp Chain, The Computer Game Show, Chat Very Good, VideoGamer, Don't Give Up Skeleton, Bonfireside Chat, Midnight Resistance.
I'm also involved in a few. Twin Humanities is a podcast covering the Souls games, with Oh-The-Humanities dancing off into games in general, coffee, telly, movies - all that kind of stuff :) [see link in signature if you fancy it]

RE: What makes a Great Game Trailer?
The debut trailer for Orbital Shock Drop Troopers - instantly leaps to mind.
In the first instance, it came out of nowhere, so there was definitely a sense of the unknown as it played.
The way it worked on confusion, turned day to night, to rainy streets and the reveal of our hero - this time not a multi-billion dollar fighter jet of a soldier, but just a man.
The gorgeous jazz noir of Marty O'Donnell's score, veering into something very venerable and human, then bursting into gallant and suggesting such adventure with that daaa DAN DAAA at the end. brilliant.

RE: Hype Check: Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE
Polygon gave it a 9.5, Gamespot & Destructoid with 8's.
Looks way, WAY up my street - and I love the thought of saving the world with music.
I recall Ben saying he's reviewing it, just waiting on that review now ..! :D

Gorgeous game. I was in tears within the opening moments.

RE: What was the Last Game that made you Cry Allies?
Wonderful tale of a young boy growing up in a small village in Japan in what I presume is tjhe 70's/80's. Imagination and adventures with friends, mixed with an obsession with Tokusatsu, where the fog coming from the factories makes it seem as though Kaiju are fighting. Yet .. is it just in the child's imagination, or is there a mystery in the village?
Warm, wonderful story, fab card game, charm for days - an absolute pleasure to play.
I finished it at a gaming convention, sitting in a breakfast bar, watching the final moments unfolding, staring out of the window in floods of tears, biting on my lip so as not to sob.
Very, very special, becoming one of my favourite games ever in the process.

RE: The difference between EZA & "Cynical games media"
I love the passion, the enthusiasm, the attention to detail. Easy Allies feel like they're genuinely excited to chat with us, and as such it's a pleasure to be in their company.

RE: What's Your Opinion?: Leaks
I'm not a fan of leaks in general. It seems more about websites one-upping one another and getting attention, rather than servicing the fans.
The discussion on a recent Easy Allies podcast about the God Of War leaks summed up much of my feelings on this - that the reveal is so much more enticing, exciting, than seeing something early. The Dark Souls 3 leaks for The Know (?!) spoiled any WTF moment that would have hit in last year's E3.
Maybe it's that level of the obvious, rather than pure surprise.
That said, I recall the Project Beast leak, of the nature of the leak - seemingly a private stream, seconds of footage, smished into gifs, then put back into video - and fandom going wild over it. I mean, it looked like the art team from Dark Souls, was it a sequel to Demon's Souls - just what is it?! Look at it!!
So .. ! Hmm.
But in general, no. xD

RE: What Game Are You 100% Sold On.
@marcel I agree entirely. I haven't been able to get it off of my mind since I saw the Microsoft conference, and the extra vid i've seen afterwards has only furthered that.
Comes across as a really sinister Monty Python, and that unsettles me. Wonderfully. :)
