After finishing the game a few days ago i must say in the end i'm slightly dissapointed with it. The first 10 hours or so are really fun but once the novelty wears off a bit the game goes downhill fast.
All the characters and the story are so paper-thin it's almost funny. Nothing at all is fleshed out, you're through a chapter in no time and everything feels incredibly shallow.
I was most excited for the Kingdom building mechanic only to realize that it's straight from the "Facebook games" playbook. Seriously the Kingdom Building might as well be a stand alone facebook clicker game. You don't build anything really, you can't even choose where to build what. You just click on pre determined spaces/buildingd and choose where to dump money in, then you have to wait until your kingdom generates enough money so you can dump it into it again, rinse and repeat. At some point i really didn't bother with it anymore. It's just excruciating busy-work.
The amount of voiced lines in NNK2, for a video game in 2018 is just ridiculous. Even for a JRPG. I would not be shocked if it is much less than in the first game.
The biggest point is probably that the game is way too easy on every level. Most of the time you have no problem beating enemies that are 20 levels above you. After a few hours the combat runs completely on autopilot, with mainly just spamming square and triangle combos. The first game handled that a lot better in my opinion.
A great plus for the game is the incredible Artstyle and Soundtrack, really loved the vibe and atmosphere of both.
All in all it's definitely not as good as the first Ni No Kuni.
