    • RE: Cyberpunk 2077 (XBO/PS4/PC)

Late to this thread, but what I really want from this game is for it to go fully weird, but not in the way people might expect. Not in the Sam Lake 'this world is particularly weird and freaky' way (though that would still be cool). But I want CP77 to get weird in its music and OST. Witcher 3 was fairly favoured for its OST with its famous Lelelele's and Gwent scores. And I hope CDPR keeps this trend.

This game takes place 60 years in the future. Now think of how music has changed since 60 years ago. Imagine that same progression but into the future. Actually, we don't have to be that predictive. There are plenty of songs that exist right now that feel weird and futuristic. Personally, I'm looking at artists like Alice Glass for her unique grittiness and The Algorithm for their funky fusion of techno and metal. When I played Watch dogs 2, I found Crystal Castles' Crimewave on the ingame radio and I wasn't that into the song, but I listened to it because I thought it would be the kind of music that Marcus might listen to. And it really grew on me and to fit the game so well!!

    • RE: Unfinished games thread

Last of Us - Ummm... this one is awkward. Maybe something I want to send in to L&R later. Let me know if I should. Anyways, I got up to a point maybe a quarter of the way through. Something came up. I got sidetracked. Put the game down.

After a while, people would tell me how good the game is. Just extraordinary. And me, in disbelief and dismissal, would try to think back on the parts I remember. And the parts that I remember tasted so sour. Honestly the most generic zombie-like activities, such as: getting bitten and not telling anyone, and fixing up a car that will only take us 5 miles out before something goes wrong, etc.

BUT THEN! I saw the trailer for Last of Us Part 2 at Paris Games Week 2017. No infected. No stereotypes. This was the best trailer for Last of Us 1 ever. How come nobody told me this game wasn't actually about the infected, but about the people?

So, sold on playing LoU 1 for the people and not for the zombies, I've started again and caught up to where I left off. I can tell you, the "zombie-ness" still feels bland, but it is really just a setting. Same way the apparent blandness of the wild west might turn people off of Red Dead. But its just about the characters baby.

Anyways, will probably finish the game and submit to L&R soon. Maybe ask the allies, or even you guys here if you've had the "set the game down because it became uninteresting", only realize you actually enjoy it more than you thought when you later pick it up.

You say juvenile, I say high-energy. Tomato/tomato. Not saying you are wrong, I just get a much different impression than some here I suppose.

@sazime Don't forget that Avalanche made Mad Max as well. Seems all too fitting to be working on this game.

Though I'm sure what I think about the tone of trailer, the main thing I get from the trailer is that it looks like some people had a lot of fun making it. Which just gives me some hope that they probably had a lot of fun making the game too. Speaks stronger to me than most other forms of advertising.

    • RE: Anime! Who's watching what?

Does anybody know much about Black Clover. I know its going to be a pretty stereotypical shonen jump series, from friend who read some of its manga. But since I was late on some upkeep and drifted away from other similar series (like Naruto and Fairy Tail), maybe this one will be something to just casually keep up with. I will see how it unfolds anyways.

@Lotias I think MyNameIsByf just put out a good video discussing the ending cutscenes. Him and Myelin are my sources into the truly interesting lore/side-stories. Really important now that lore bits are scattered throughout the world and hard to piece together.

    • RE: Game Openings: Good vs Bad?

I really enjoy the openings to each of the Tales from the Borderlands episodes. Especially, episode 2:

      Youtube Video

Maybe its because I like the songs, or the feel of what I think Borderlands should have, or the slight interactivity in some. But probably its because of how they are so segmented and concise.

While on the flip side what do people think of the openings to games like Persona? Where I remember it being a couple hours until you could even walk around in Persona 4. I think I like it because it cleanly sets up the whole adventure, even though it can be a little too much exposition.

^ This is what happened with me and The Order: 1886. Awful game for full price, but I got it for $10 like 6 months later. Best purchase of my life. Seriously.
