I like games with a heavy focus on exploration. My favorite thing to do in games is just wander around to see what I can find. If the level design is non-linear or at least fairly open, the map is detailed and varied, and there are a lot of cool things to discover, then I am 100% sold.

RE: Kill Your Babies!
What did BioShock do at the end to deserve such treatment?
The game completely loses its momentum after the famous twist. The final boss is less than stellar as well.
It's not enough to keep it from being a classic, but I'd say that "the best game ever created in our parallel universe without question" should be 10/10 for its entire duration.
That might just be me, though.
RE: Kill Your Babies!
Love you, Bioshock, but a game that screws up its ending as badly as you did does not deserve to be called the greatest ever made.
Super Mario Galaxy
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Grand Theft Auto V
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Batman: Arkham City
Resident Evil 4
Mass Effect 2
The Last of Us
Halo: Combat Evolved
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Ninja Gaiden Black
RE: Enter The Negative Zone.
I really, really hate the recent-ish trend of rebooting franchises under the original name with no subtitle or anything. I feel like recent games such as Tomb Raider, Doom, and Thief draw attention away from their namesakes, which deserve to be remembered and have those names refer to them only. Also, it's really annoying to always have to clarify which game I'm talking about and it makes it really hard to search the internet for them.
RE: Forgotten RPGs
YES! Golden Sun! Those games were amazing.
Great music, too. It's been years since I last played one, but I can still play the opening tune in my head.
Most of them aren't very old, but I feel like this is a good place to plug the Spiderweb Software games. They don't have much production value, but they make up for that in other areas.
RE: Last Gen 7s/ Underrated Games
Lately I've been thinking about Alpha Protocol a lot. It's one of those games that's very rough around the edges, but the things it does well are so great and unique that they completely make up for any of the low points. The most interesting thing about the game is how much your decisions can affect how the story unfolds or even change the levels. It really deserves so much more than its reputation would suggest.
RE: Worst "lost my save" moment you've had
I made it to the final boss of FF7 and decided to revisit the beginning of the game. What happened next was pretty much conditioned behavior: there was a save point, so I saved. This was fifteen years ago and I still haven't beaten the game.
There was also that one time my brother let his friend start a new game on my copy of Pokemon Sapphire. I miss my Wailord so much.
RE: Game recommendations for long road trip
I've got Baldur's Gate 2 on my iPad, it's absolutely amazing to play for long stretches of time. The other Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale 1 are available for iOS as well.
It's gotta be on iPad, though. The games are completely unplayable on iPhone.
RE: What was the Last Game that made you Cry Allies?
I too entered this thread to talk about To the Moon.
The moment I realized why the central character wanted to go "to the moon" so badly was like a punch to the gut from a bodybuilder. It's one of the best and most original love stories in the medium, and you can quote me on that.
RE: How long have you been an ally?
Someone posted the now-famous Shenmue 3 reaction video on a certain website that will remain nameless shortly after the Sony press conference last year. I was still riding that high and the weird screaming guys got me even more pumped, so I went Youtube to check them out. I immediately got hooked on The Final Bosman and watched it religiously right up to when the site got shut down. I was so devastated that I camped out on the guys' twitter pages waiting for them to announce something. You can all pretty much guess what happened after that.
RE: EZA: Username list! Explain your username!
I made it up when I signed up for Twitch because all my other usernames were already taken. I wanted people to recognize me both here and in the Twitch chat, so GoshGollyGee it will remain.
Honestly, any of my other usernames would have produced a more exciting story. I especially have quite the tale regarding RazDaz. Your loss, I guess.
RE: The Houdini of His Gen: How Will Bosman Escape This Time?
I don't think Kyle's the kind to weasel his way out of things so much as the kind to cruelly subvert expectations.
Imagine an escape artist who puts on two amazing shows. He becomes famous worldwide, breaks many records, goes on all the talk shows, the works. Then the time comes for his third show. Some assistants come out on stage, secure him into a straight jacket, wrap him up in chains, lock him in an unbreakable transparent box, and set up several other impossible-to-get-out-of things before a two minute countdown begins. Then the escape artist proceeds to do absolutely nothing but stare at the audience with a smug look on his face for the entire duration.
That man is Kyle Bosman.
Of course, this hypothetical show takes place at, like, 3 am. There's no question about that.

For a living I - am a college student. I hope to become a computer programmer one day.
Non-gaming Hobbies - I watch a lot of tv and read a lot of books. I also love playing card and board games with my friends and family.
Gaming Historical Facts - When I got a Gamecube for my birthday, my parents couldn't afford any games to go with it. I didn't care, though, I just spent several hours turning it on and off to watch the opening logo animation. There was a big, stupid grin on my face the entire time. I think that's a pretty good representation of the kind of person I am.
Firm Believer That - The first three Thief games are masterpieces and they have the best fanmade content of any game series ever. I also hate the reboot for making me add that "first three" bit. I hate the reboot for a lot of things.
Champion of - I'm gonna go ahead and plug the Vita here. It's actually a pretty neat little handheld, especially if you like niche Japanese games.
