It would be awesome if they would incorporate this in their Patreon pitch at the end of reviews and other videos.

    • RE: What is the best way to improve/perfect your english?

@MSBi I'm using textfugu.com for learning Japanese, mostly because it doesn't just teach you the language but also how to learn by yourself. The first chapter is free to use and introduces Hiragana and basic grammar.

    • RE: What is the best way to improve/perfect your english?

There are a lot of ways to improve it and the most important one is to actually use the language you want to learn. Read it, speak it as often as possible and listen to it.

Watching movies may not be the best way in my opinion though as it is highly scripted and can sometimes be very fast. You can mitigate this by also having access to a movie or show in your own language.

One more suggestion: register on www.lang-8.com and start writing a diary in English. It's a free service where other learners review your writing in English and you can review what others write in your mother tongue.

    • RE: Jimmy Fallon debuts the Nintendo Switch

@FF7Cloud that sounds quite realistic. As Huber said on the most recent podcast, it's a bit of a bummer if a brand new console, mobile or not, is using already "obsolete" technology.

To me the Wii U didn't have as many third party games because the hardware was just way too underpowered to play the same games as the PS4 or Xbox One without a lot of development effort. If it's the same for Switch we may only see third party games developed for mobile use first, not necessarily the same games that the PS4 and Xbox are getting.

      Just my 2c.

@Haru17 said in Jimmy Fallon debuts the Nintendo Switch:

      Let your curiosities be elucidated.

Thanks, saw that posting as well ... They remain quite tight lipped though. Eurogamer posted a round-up of rumours for the hardware two days after the nVidia blog post you linked. Among other things it says that dev kits are using the X1 chip...

Guess I'm just hoping that Nintento will push the boat out a bit more by going for newer hardware this time around :)

I'm still hoping that they'll use the Tegra X2 instead of the X1, if only for better battery life ...

It's great to see the console running, as well as the unplugging being that smooth and easy.

    • RE: Final Fantasy XV reviews are out

      I'll add Polygon's summary:

Final Fantasy 15's own opening text describes it as "a Final Fantasy for fans and newcomers alike." The game contains pieces sure to disappoint players in both camps, but it also provides a refreshingly human take on the classic RPG journey that I hope will inspire future games in the franchise. Final Fantasy 15 can be baffling in some of its questionable choices, but across the board, it hits more than it misses. It hums with an energy and compassion that I loved, a sense of camaraderie, friendship and adventure that fills an old and struggling formula with new relevance...

It's interesting to me that some reviewers call the world boring and side quests simple while others say that the world is very fleshed out. Guess it's to be expected that a new FF game is received like that.

Waiting for my copy to arrive :)

    • RE: Video Games as Works of Art

I'll vote for Journey and The Witness.

Independent of what art means for video games, those two were the first to come to mind for their design and story telling.

Valiant Hearts is also up there for me, though not as much as the other two.

    • RE: What is your opinion on Neo and Scorpio

I'm fine with the idea of a shorter cycle if this plays out a bit like it does with iPhone 6 vs 62 or Samsung Galaxy S6/S7. If we get a mid-term bump in specs like PS4 and PS4k then, ideally, nobody should lose out on gameplay.

Don't think people will mind that a PS4 and PS4k or XBox One S/Scorpio exist at the same time if both parties can enjoy the same gameplay. There shouldn't be any features reserved for the more powerful ones, except actually using the horsepower these consoles bring to the table.

One upside from this might be that we'll see more graphics options in console games. If developers can optimise a game for PS4 and PS4k in that you have a choice of fidelity vs framerate, then that's an option that could be made available to users in general.

    • RE: What other video game sites do you frequent?

Eurogamer, incl. their Digital Foundry hardware reviews and comparisons - nice read-up of XBox Scorpio and PS4 Neo btw.

Polygon's editorials are also very interesting and every now and then their reviews offer a bit of a different take on a game than others.
