Youtube Video Yasunori Mitsuda gets me every time. This was actually the track that made me go out and buy the game (which is a common practice I'm less proud of). It sort of reminds me of Hisaishi's Ghibli tracks

@naltmank Yeah I recall liking the 2nd one as well. I mean, I'm not going to die on the hill saying they are incredible, but I actually liked them outright whereas the greater moviegoing hive mind has led me to question myself because they claim these are just the worst movies ever made. That said, the scene in the 3rd movie where the King Dwarf throws his crown down might be one of the worst scenes I've ever seen in one of the worst movies I've ever seen. What I agree is jarring is how Lord of the Rings did a lot of amazing filmmaking techniques that played out so tastefully in the final product. I mean, there are hundreds of hours of behind the scenes footage for that trilogy if somebody wants to study it. Undeniable that those were made with a high level of care and ambition. Then years later in The Hobbit, Peter Jackson is like, "lets just throw a Go Pro into a river and intercut it with film cameras, nobody will know the difference". That lack of care is shocking when you throw it up against his other work.

Day 11 - Moment that makes you cry The Last of Us: Part II Final Joel-Ellie scene. I felt like I just got a punch in the stomach. Day 12 - First game you remember playing First ever Super Mario Bros. I think all of the family played that game several times. My mom even finished it. 😃 Day 13 - Game that needs a remaster/remake Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. I finished that game many times and the story was always sad to live through. I can't imagine how fun it would be to play it with the gameplay and technology of Max Payne 3 for example. Day 14 - First game and console you owned PlayStation 2 and Ben 10: Protector of Earth. What can I say, I just love the original Ben 10 shows. Day 18 - Game that would make a good anime Jak&Daxter series. Day 23 - Replace a protagonist with another of your choice Chloe Frazer for the reboot Tomb Raider trilogy. 😎 Day 25 -Animal companion BD-1 from SWJ: Fallen Order. It counts. 🤷 Day 27 - Game that got you into a developer Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, Naughty Dog Day 28 - Dream mashup of two franchise Uncharted and Tomb Raider, Nate and Lara go to hunt the same treasue just to be forced to forge an uneasy alliance. Day 29 - Game you'd purge from reality Dark Souls trilogy Day 30 - Game you'd get a tattoo of Sic Parvis Magna, I'm leaving the guessing the franchise to you guys 🙃

@mbun I haven't played it myself but it is a Musou game and could be really appealing to fans of the franchise.

While I'm perfectly fine with the PS4 controller, I much prefer asymmetrical analogue stick placement. It just makes a lot more sense to me In the majority of the games I play, my default thumb placement is on the left analogue and the face buttons. So my thumbs are mostly symmetrical on Xbox and Nintendo controllers. Whereas my thumbs have to play mostly asymmetrical on a playstation controller.

@jdincinerator Having only recently played MW 2 (thanks PlayStation Plus), I have to say this was definitely the most fun and memorable level in the game for me, I'm a sucker for stealth and they made it simple yet enjoyable, kinda wish the whole game was like that!

@themarcv If i remember the first demo came out around a TGS appearance, and the second one popped up like 2 weeks before release. I do remember that first demo left a bad impression for me but I can't recall why exactly, but that second demo I played it practically nonstop during all my free time, which led to me being vastly overleveled in the final game, since the last few quest you complete in the demo are around level 15 I think.

Finishing up: Day 22, town/village The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Zora's Domain Spoilers Day 23, underrated game Robotron 64. An excellent 3D adaptation of a classic arcade game. Unrelenting gameplay backed with a very bangin' soundtrack: Youtube Video Youtube Video Day 24, game you constantly have stuck in your head Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions. Specifically, the sounds of booting up the game and getting a game over. Youtube Video Day 25, game that gets you pumped Crazy Taxi Youtube Video Day 26, game you haven't played Planet Coaster. There's nothing else I want to play more, but my current computer can't run it, and there's no way I'd ever play it on console. I do have a much better computer, but there are reasons I can't use it yet. Day 27, handheld game I'm not into handhelds at all. The only handheld games I've beaten are the first two gens of Pokémon. I prefer Red & Blue, but it's been mentioned, so Gold & Silver it is. Great use of colour, lovely town themes, and one of the most epic final battles ever. Spoilers: Youtube Video Day 28, game that makes you nostalgic It's such low hanging fruit, but honestly, Ocarina of Time. It has an indelible charm. It blows every other Nintendo 64 game out of the water in terms of production values. There are a million little touches that prevent your brain from wearing on it. And the eternal soundtrack... Youtube Video – [10:51..] Day 29, final boss Diddy Kong Racing - Wizpig The races against him have a completely different tone from the rest of the game - dark and dangerous. And the difficulty level is just right - damn hard, but learnable. Day 30, credits Star Fox 64 (Spoiler, of course.) Day 31, spooky Halloween game The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has some pretty spooky stuff in it. Youtube Video – [16:31..] Youtube Video

I was going to say that I think Clive Rosfield is a dumb name, but after giving it some thought, I think the series has given me enough dumb character names historically to invalidate my complaint. I'll just learn to love it like I have with past characters.

Don't know if there are a good amount of people who are interested in books about the industry, but I posted this as a correction to last week's podcast and it didn't get mentioned. Thought I'd post it here in case people were interested! I just wanted to recommend "Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo and the Battle that Defined a Generation" by Blake J Harris. It's written in more of a dramatization fashion, from character perspectives rather than a historical memoir, but was based on real interviews, events, people and situations that happened during the 90s from the sides of both Sega and Nintendo. It primarily follows Tom Kalinske as he began as CEO of Sega of America and the struggles of the company battling with Nintendo being the juggernaut it grew into at the time, but pretty fairly looks at both sides and the struggles of marketing, multinational company cultural disagreements, courtroom battles and more. It's a pretty thick read, but I loved every bit of it and would recommend it to anyone hoping to learn more about the era and the people behind the decisions that were made then, as well as why certain events transpired. https://www.amazon.com/Console-Wars-Blake-J-Harris-audiobook/dp/B00K0M8TR4/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=console+wars&qid=1600551240&sr=8-1 The book is actually being made into a documentary from CBS All Access, and the trailer dropped just a few hours after I made the last comment. You can watch the trailer here: Youtube Video I still very highly recommend the book!

Sad but expected news today: After a website redesign, Playmaji announced that due to an issue in communication with a retail partner, the product isn't going to be shipping to meet it's originally delayed date of the 15th, and is instead being pushed to Q1 2021, with the new delayed date of February 21. It's a frustrating thing to have to sit through, especially as a day 1 pre-order'er more than two years ago. However on the other hand I'm happy they finally gave an update. I'm just hoping they're better about it as things go forward, and maybe give their new light gun out for free for early adopters who have gotten the shaft for so long.
