@darthammii ... Ooga Booga, Dreamcast.
We played a tonne of games on that console... but this is one we couldn’t put down ever. Well, that and SF Rush 2049.
Spawn! I’ve been waiting years for that announcement. Perfect fit.
Hey all, just wondering what karacters everyone is playing?
I’ve been getting in deep with Scorpion from the get go and think that’s why I found the combos a lil less intuitive or accessible to start with than MKX. He’s not super flexible and doesn’t really have a lot of simple moves that get lots of hits in, but can be a lot of fun once you really know what you’re doing. However I had a quick go with Noob and in the short time I’ve played with him he’s a corner combo beast, almost every string launches with an opportunity to keep it going.
Found any particularly fun kombo bringers yet?
@sentinel-beach yeah...
I can muster the souls, but 50 fatalities on Cetrion... there’s also the other heads near the statues, 50 fatalities per character. Don’t mind so much the fatalities... but I’m gonna see a whole lot of those same fatalities! Also re the souls, there is a recipe to forge 250 souls, I’m about up to where you are and had enough ingredients to push 750 souls into my bank account.
@dmcmaster I’d actually say they did, especially after coming from MKX. Have a listen to frame trap, ep 80, from about the 30 minute mark they get right into it, Its actually worse than I first thought. There is so much filler now, there’s almost no way to grab something you’re after in particular, and some mechanics just seem like there was no other way to look at it, it’s just bad. I hope they fix it properly, this game is so so close to being brilliant.
@sabotagethetruth that’s never a bad idea... but I’m weak when it comes to MK so yeah I already bit the bullet! Only problem you’ll face is when you jump online. A year from now everybody will be godly 😋
So krypt and towers... I’d be totally happy for them to remove these and come back with a complete refresh. Almost want to stop playing right away and come back when there’s a fix. Thoughts? Some of those towers are a nightmare for me, and apparently the difficulty has already had its tune.
@dmcmaster yeah I’m finding it really janky. I’m sure once I get into training and learn a bit more it’ll all come together, but it’s not as intuitive. Also noticed fatalities and brutalities don’t unlock once you do them, must have to unlock them from the krypt regardless now.
Finished the story last night. So far, while I think it’s great, there’s something about it not hitting the mark for me. Sometimes the graphics blow me away, the next I feel like it’s a step back from it’s predecessor. I liked the feel and tone better in MKX, from costumes, character select screen etc. the new one is really... static and convoluted? There’s something about characters like sub zero and scorpion just not feeling korrect. The gameplay itself, gonna go out on a limb here and say MKX is a much more approachable game, easier to link kombos and such. It could be just picking up a new title and not knowing it back to front yet, but generally in MKX you could throw out a special attack or some such thing and link something off it without too much hassle, even if you weren’t that great. A lot more staggered action I’m finding with this one, if you don’t know the correct links your just gonna sit there static while your opponent hits the floor and you kinda reset.
Also... Anyone hit the customisation yet? I thought there’d be more of a system like injustice but it kinda falls short for me with having to individually level up gear, and that gear isn’t really impactful/noticeable. Injustice you got to play a completely visually different Batman through customisation, mk11 you only get to change scorpions lower half mask, spear and swords, or noobs buckle clasp on his shadow. Not much! And you can see everything you can unlock already, no mystery.
On the other hand the entire changing up of special moves looks super deep if you want to bury yourself in the game. I’m all over the place with this one, so much to talk about!
TL:DR, I think if I was to try and sum it up, it feels like it took a big page out of injustice and Mortal Kombatified it. I’m probably gonna play this for a long time but it’s not totally what I was expecting.
