    • RE: Do you feel it's possible to grow out of gaming?

Yes. In the same way it's possible to grow out of liking music or friendship. Sometimes you just reach a state in a passion where it feels like all you do is go through the motions. If that takes over too much it's healthier to shift gears. I find I often get tired of playing video games but then once my life-situation changes my passion for games is, at least briefly, on a new high. I had to intern in copenhagen for 3 months and when I got set up in my new flat it wasn't long until I would religiously play 3 or 4 hours every evening of old and new games because life itself was feeling fresh and exciting. If everything's too much of the same I can't excite myself with games either. That's more or less how it has felt for me, but I guess I've learned at the bottom of my heart I have a deeply ingrained passion for gaming... or I'm just addicted lmao.

    • Why will the Unofficial Alliance Discord not unban me!?

Help me, I'm a helpless victim! I was banned because people couldn't stand me on the UAD and now I regret being recognized as a bad person.

The day I get unbanned is the day that we can all be friends again! :D

    • Absolutely stupid or absurd ideas you'd like to see

Sometimes the EZA crew surprises you with some "BZHOOOWH" mind-blowing shit in their shows. Remember the Huber version of Final Bosman? Remember the episode when Ian killed himself? Do you have similar ideas?

I wanna see them do a podcast just for one week where Ian is both in the nextmost right seat and far left seat, and the far left one has been edited in post-process. I don't know where the hell they'll go with that but just for the sake of adding mystery to an otherwise very real and down-to-earth news show.

    • RE: Is the Easy Allies forum the place for controversial topics?

I think politically charged discussions belong on ResetERA, Reddit and other places honestly. I expect EZA boards to be about talking about specific content or experiences with games, not ideological spouting of what games should or should not be.

That said, people will do what they will, but I'd prefer it if people kept their Jordan Peterson, Anita Sarkeesian or other confirmation bias out, simply out of respect for each other and the idea that there's probably a mix of various political stances here, and you don't have to emphasize that anywhere you go on the internet just because today's surroundings have such an oversaturation of it.

    • RE: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Switch)

@Mbun Like I said, it was a fanboyish reaction and I concede that. That being said, the Chapter 7 scene you speak of also felt underwhelming to me and it kinda comes out of nowhere. In general I was disappointed with some of the big moments in that particular chapter. It felt strangely contrived and rushed, and it halted some of the character development for the rest of the game. That's really the only part of the game I did not enjoy storywise.

I did love the ending as a whole, but as a fanboy I wished a slightly different resolution for Rex.

That said, it was a feel good ending for a game that already revealed itself to be more of a, slightly sappy, but feel good plot around halfway through. Its mysteries and world building was still strong throughout and also the focus of the very final chapter, but it's true, some of the resolution kinda breaks the rules in some ways, but it has good emotional reasoning behind it, so it's not like ME3 where the lore is reduced to toeast over an unsatisfying climax. Overall it felt pretty meant-to-be in my eyes. Maybe as I see it a few more times I'll get more critical but for now, I pretty much loved the entire thing.

@Musou-Tensei It's a stortydriven game, heavily so. it's entirely reasonable to take it seriously.

    • My Musical Fix of the Mass Effect 3 ending

"It's been almost 6 yeeears, c'mon brooo" no, no, I did this because I loved the music but today I decided to assemble a little video for it, and share it with you guys.

Context required: Play the trilogy or just watch and get spoiled and enjoy the little remix with addendum.

Personally I'd have wished for a completely different concept for the ending or even most of ME3's plot, but alas it was as it was and taking that concept I decided to tweak it a little bit, as implied with the imagery in the video, and that's more or less how I would've "fixed" one vital part of the ending.

Regardless, it's just a little thing I made in my spare time because I like the soundtrack. Here you go :)

    • RE: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Switch)

I beat this game yesterday. It was beautiful. Not perfect as I did have questions of the bad sort, particularly involving certain things in chapter 7 that felt confusing and rushed, and I'm not sure I fully comprehended all the chapter 10 revelations either, but emotionally it was fantastic and the ending feels so earned.

One thing that made me fanboy sad though:

I actually wanted Pyra/Mythra to die for good, and let that be Rex's maturation, and then in the epilogue imply that Nia has the hots for him because that'd have been too cute.

Zelda seeling less than Odyssey is all the catharsis I need but historically Zelda has sold worse so eh. Just give me a proper Zelda game next time.

    • RE: Last movie you watched

The Last Jedi. It's the most split bad split good movie in the series. Highly entertaining and provocative as a fan, but also too incoherent and repetitive of the formulae to be a success. The last 30 minutes made me very eager to leave the theater because the structure of the movie is bonkers and it felt overstimulating from that lack of elegance. I also think the movie tries too hard to be subversive and then kinda lands flat on its face when all the angsty "Luke is grumpy" plot ties itself up in a circular fashion while the other parts of the movie continue to dabble in the past while simultaneously spouting lines such as "We must let go of the past!" in the entire third act.

I hear JJ Abrams is coming back to direct the next one. Good luck buddy, and I'm just enjoying the show here because it looks like Rian just fucked over everything you established and left the plotline right next to a bottomless pit and now JJ has to unfuck that mess, and mark my words Episode IX is going to be have a record number of asspulls in the entire series, just to re-establish a workable premise.
