    • RE: FatBurger in London, UK

I'm in London and think a UK EZA meet-up would be cool. Don't tend to check the forums very often but I'll try and get better at it!

    • RE: YOUR Desire Index

      My desire list is as follows right now going by those on the 'official' list;

      1 - Cyberpunk 2077
2 - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
      3 - Gears 5
      4 - Control
      5 - Resident Evil 2 Remake
      6 - Anthem

I don't really care for anything else on the list right now.

I'm hyped-up for Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Shadow of the Tomb Raider though. I'll be intersted to see where they place with the Allies but sense it won't be too high... :-\

    • RE: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (NS/WiiU)

I found the new shrines and gameplay content great but the story bits / cut scenes were lacking or at least felt like they really should have been in the main game / free.

The motorbike is cool but obviously you unlock it at the very end of the game where it's not much use as an actual way to travel around since most players will have unlocked most of the map and plenty of fast-travel points.

Overall I had fun and it was worth it but this wasn't amazing DLC.

@El-Shmiablo said in What Games Do You Think Should Be Remade?:

      Streets of Rage 1-3
Literally every Treasure game ever made

Check out the unofficial fan-made Streets of Rage remake - it's exactly this and it's amazing.

    • RE: Games that incorporate sequence breaking in their design

Unlike the sequence breaking in Super Metroid which doesn't seem to be intended, Metroid Zero Mission had a fully planned and optional sequence-break where you can skip past Kraid and kill Ridley first which I really liked.

    • RE: Metroid: Samus Returns (3DS)

Given that AM2R was already my perfect remake of Metroid 2 and I'm not a big fan of the low-res 2.5D graphics I'm not as hyped on this as I should be.

I'll still buy it to support Metroid but I would rather they'd done something set post-Fusion and continue the story which has been at a stand-still for 15 years.

    • RE: Sonic Mania & Sonic Forces (PC/PS4/XB1/NSW)

Sonic Mania is looking amazing. I almost never pre-order things but I went and pre-purchased this immediately after this trailer (so as soon as the option became available).

Played it last year at EGX and the gameplay is perfect while all of the levels shown thus far have looked amazing.

This is also making me realise how much I miss Tails and Knuckles - they haven't been playable since the Sonic Advance games back in the early 2000s. :'-(

    • RE: Hollow Knight (PC/NS)

Sounds good - I've got my eye on it too but will wait until the game arrives on consoles. If you don't mind me asking, how to you feel it compares to the likes or Ori and Axiom Verge (plus Guacamelle / Shantae / Shadow Complex or any other recent metroiavanias you've played)?

I'm wishing Dust was backwards compatible on the X-Bone but I could always boot up the old 360 for it... :-\

@jipostus Thanks for the suggestion - I'm already a backer for Bloodstained, had to throw some money at that the day it went live!

    • RE: E3 of Dreams 2017

The best thing possible for me would be a sudden announcement that Sonic Mania is available to buy right now, during E3.
      Also...
A shadow-drop of Cuphead would also be pretty neat.
Big media blow-out of REmake 2.
Something from Retro Studios. Metroid / Donkey Kong / New IP - I'm signed up no matter what.
Oh, and Shenmue 1 & 2 HD plz.

    • RE: What's my next Metroidvania to be...? Outland or Dust: An Elysian Tail?

Thanks for the ideas guys & girls.

I have already played Axiom Verge and I fully agree that it is absolutely FANTASTIC. Not just the gameplay or retro-graphics either, I truly loved the story and lore - Sudra was one of the most fascinating environments I've explored in a long time.

I think I might be leaning more towards Outland at the moment - I'd usually pick platforming over combat in most instances (though the combat in Guacamellee was great fun...). I've also remembered that I never played the 2014 Strider game which was apparently a metroidvania but it looked a bit bland style-wise combared to both Outland and Dust.

    • RE: Weird Gaming Habits?

Whenever I create a save game in The Witcher 3 I always try and put Geralt in a cool pose or create a neat little 'scene' to go in the little image that accompanies the save file. I used to do the same in Dragon Age Origins back in the day.

    • What's my next Metroidvania to be...? Outland or Dust: An Elysian Tail?

Hey Allies, just seeking some other opinions on this minor dilemma. I'm a big fan of Metroidvanias and have played most of the 'big' ones to have been released in the last few years, from Shadow Complex to Shantae to Ori to Guacamelee to Axiom Verge etc. etc.

However, two which I managed to overlook were Dust: An Elysian Tail and also Outland. Both seemed to get very similar review scores and I'm having trouble deciding which one to start investing my time in. So, to any fellow Metroidvania-fans out there who have played either one or the other or else both... what are your thoughts?

I likewise haven't played Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, nor Song of the Deep, but I'm not feeling that their ship / submarine style of gameplay will work for me. However, open to hearing suggestions...

    • RE: Sonic Mania & Sonic Forces (PC/PS4/XB1/NSW)

Physics look similar to Genetations... which were a bit wonky but overall it was a solid game. I'm cautiously optimistic on this one...

    • RE: Games you hate that everyone else seems to love.

My really weird one is Super Metroid which is especially strange since I love Metroid Zero Mission, Fusion and the recent AM2R (and also many other Metroidvanias, including the Prime games). I just find Super so incredibly slow, floaty and awkward by comparison, plus I actually find the pacing and world/level design in the other games to be way better.

    • RE: How can the Switch replace the 3DS at $300

I really think that the Switch needs to be down around the $200 mark to start attracting people away from the 3DS. Maybe a 'portable mode only' model which is cheaper could start to do that, as has been speculated.

    • RE: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (NS/WiiU)

Hmm... I'll wait and see. I just can't see Zelda delivering either an open-world or an epic story and characters that are anything remotely close to the likes of The Witcher 3.

Where Zelda has always excelled is in it's excellent dungeons and puzzles, where the franchise is head-and-shoulders above any rivals. Yet, we haven't seen much of that for BOTW.

Also, that frame-rate looks really ropey on the Wii U. I know there is still time to polish but I'm hoping maybe the Switch can do better (praying for 60fps).
