RE: Xbox big first party reveal is upon us! What are your expectations?
I haven't been posting them here because I know there isn't much legitimate interest, but for anyone who wants to have an idea of what each Xbox studio is up to, here's a series of breakdowns I've been doing on ResetEra. All 15 studios are now accounted for in the link.
I'll do a quick breakdown of what I expect to be in the main Showcase though from Xbox's first party, as there's a lot to read if you choose to click on that link. Some of these studios may have multiple things shown, but I'm listing out clear expectations and not vague possiblities. Again, this is for the main Showcase and doesn't include what will be show during the pre-show.
These studios should be there:
343 Industries - Halo Infinite
Ninja Theory - Senua's Saga: Hellblade II
Obsidian - UNANNOUNCED NEW PROJECT (RPG)
Playground Games - UNANNOUNCED NEW PROJECT (RPG)
Rare - Everwild
XGSP - 1 or 2 UNANNOUNCED NEW PROJECTS (UNKNOWN GENRE)
Double Fine - Psychonauts 2
Turn 10 - Forza 8These studios might be there:
The Initiative - UNANNOUNCED NEW PROJECT (UNKNOWN GENRE)
Undead Labs - State of Decay 3
World's Edge - Age of Empires IVThese studios are highly unlikely to be there:
Mojang Studios
Compulsion Games
inXile Entertainment
The CoalitionPersonally I hope to see a return of Crimson Skies or Banjo-Kazooie, neither of which are heavily rumored; I'm also very excited to see Playground Games' and Obsidian's new projects.

Its crazy that both XCOM games are going to land in the Top 6...

RE: Quasi-Official Game Screenshot Thread
Still pretty early on in Ori and the Will of the Wisps; I keep taking screenshot after screenshot. Will update with more and spoiler tag them as I enter more secret locales...
These are a little more spoilery in terms of environments, but no bosses or anything special that hasn't been seen or hinted at in a trailer.

RE: Summer Game Fest
Its really hard for me to understand getting upset over what Inside Xbox showed yesterday. Should they have prominently used "gameplay" to describe the content being shown? Probably not. Should they and Assassin's Creed have hyped up that trailer? Probably not. Were the games shown clear indications of what will be possible to accomplish with next-gen hardware? No. Was it wise to show off smaller games before your larger third parties and their own first party games when entering the next generation? Maybe not. Is all of that worth getting mad over? No.
Instead, it was a 25 minute video that showed off new games that will be playable on the next generation. With it being incredibly quiet on all fronts regarding titles for this fall, Xbox decided to go ahead and show off some things that you will probably actually be playing later this year, maybe even on Xbox One if you want. Oh the horror that it didn't have any games featuring ambiguous release dates and unbelievable graphics from a prestigious studio to officially usher in the new consoles. The reality is there are a ton of smaller projects during the beginning of every new generation that need to be shown off too. The more we delay events and reveals, the less time some of these other titles will actually have to market themselves before release, leaving them to get lost in the shuffle because they aren't Halo. I mean, lets go over what was shown...
Bright Memory Infinite - Pretty impressive all around for a development team of 1 person.
Dirt 5 - Didn't jump out at me as anything special, really just reminded me of Forza Horizon 4.
Scorn - I think we're all familiar, the 4K version of the trailer is pretty next-gen looking to me.
Chorus - I am really looking forward to this, the visuals aren't crazy but there's a lot going on.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 - Visualy unimpressive, the actual game seems quality.
Call of the Sea - Very reminiscent of Sea of Thieves, good looking but not a stunning leap.
The Ascent - Co-op Action RPG, impressively detailed environments, good action.
The Medium - Seems cool, will probably look pretty good, nothing outrageous.
Scarlet Nexus - Pretty standard looking anime style, very reminiscent of the current gen in motion.
Second Extinction - Fun concept, but nothing stands out as too special, yet.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon - Good game to drive home as something you can now expect on Xbox moving forward.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla - Boring trailer, still looks solid but a pretty underwhelming showing given its prestige and placement. That's a lot of new and varied titles that prior to the presentation we were unaware of coming to Series X. Is that really worth getting mad over? There have been shows like this before, and similar "gameplay" trailers like those shown for years. To act like it was some massive con is crazy.
Customers have been starving for new information and are cooped up in their houses with little to do, but they can't stand to receive some when its actually provided because it isn't grand enough. The overwhelming rush to react so negatively to an event like that is crazy. Nobody is forcing you to watch it live, stream your reactions, or to stake your hopes and dreams on the event. Put down your microscopes and pitchforks, and just try to enjoy whats being shown. Don't like the Inside Xbox format? Just watch the Youtube uploads of the trailers. Was it perfect? No. Was it exactly what I was personally hoping for? No, but life will go on and we will get more info soon. The world is exhausting sometimes.

I think most of us feel the same way, OP.
These are probably tied for my favorite:
Hopefully the stars will align some day soon, and we can get a proper return.

RE: The Video Game March Madness Bracket
@faaip Nice to see a fellow Wolfpacker otb - hope you are in good health as, much like every basketball/football/baseball season, they are on the verge of making me suffer a fatal heart attack with their antics. Assuming we survive BC on Saturday, looking forward to our pivotal 8/9 matchup with fellow bubble dweller, Clemson.
Nice thread btw, Brannox!

Gears 5 Multiplayer on Bunker, HUD hidden, Xbox One X.

RE: The PS5 News and Info Thread
I'm not sure what to say, but I'm a little let down by what was shown. Even things like Ghostwire and Resident Evil VIII didn't hit me like I was hoping they would. Outside of maybe Ratchet switching between worlds, I didn't see anything ultra impressive - a lot of it just felt like the same old stuff. I guess I was expecting the much talked about SSD to flex itself a little more obviously. There were some cooler indie type games, but nothing really blew me away.

RE: That's News!
Battletoads is releasing August 20th. I'm pretty pleased with the trailer, I was concerned they were going to make it a pure beat em' up, but there is plenty of different styles of gameplay displayed which is key to making this work. Obviously there are critics of the art style and that wasn't going to change amid the silence since last year, and while I understand wanting it to look different, I do too at least a little, it looks ok in motion. At the end of the day it's always been a cartoony game about frogs in the same vein of TMNT and the style is generally appropriate. Excited to try it out and soon! Its the 4th XGS game releasing in August alongside Tell Me Why, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Wasteland 3.

RE: The EZA Forums Top 50 Games of the 2010s!
@Sentinel-Beach, we got you covered! Didn't play it in 2018 since I don't really use my laptop for games, but got it on Xbox One X last year and loved it. @ffff0, the first time you use the pocketwatch serves as essentially the only tutorial that I recall and explains every mechanic for how to progress - I thought it was a very good opening. It is not just an art gallery, more like a carefully crafted collection of stop motion shots that let you see how scenes unfolded. Also the art style and that soundtrack though!

RE: That's News!
Bethesda, MachineGames, is working on an Indiana Jones game - now the focus on Lucasfilm Games updating their info yesterday makes a lot more sense.
No details on exclusivity, though it is early in development.

RE: Metroid Dread thread
As someone with almost no emotional reverence for the series, but who respects its status and place in history, my issue is the value proposition just doesn't line up with the competition which should lead to higher expectations. Now, this isn't something exclusive to Metroid, it is a common issue for me with a lot of Nintendo titles. This is a new, $60 entry in an esteemed franchise which is going to be compared to great games that released at half the cost, or lower. There has been a flood of these games over the last 5-10 years trying to satiate fans who love this style, and this is asserting itself as the best of the best by just naming it Metroid Dread. While I don't expect it to have an art style similar to Ori or Hollow Knight, it should damn sure look better than this - to act like it shouldn't is crazy.

RE: Metroid Dread thread
@yoshi I'm not really sure you're grasping the argument, but that's fine. You could apply a similar argument to a ton of different games if you choose to. This isn't the first, only, or last.
I don't give a damn about Final Fantasy VII so I'm not sure if that's supposed to cut at me, it doesn't; I also think it's crazy how they're treating that rollout but that's a whole different thing.

RE: Bethesda E3 2016 Press Conference Thread (7pm Pacific)
- Quake Champions looked cool, I will probably never play it if its a PC exclusive, but that's fine. I like the effort to revive revered IPs especially when your past two attempts at doing so were widely regarded.
- The new Fallout 4 DLC looked fun, I'll probably end up buying that season pass.
- Dishonored 2 looked really solid, although as the crew acknowledged, the combat looked a little rough. I haven't played the first one but I look forward to playing through the Definitive Edition before 2 releases in November.
- Prey looked fantastic. I never played the original and I don't care. The trailer really showed off an interesting atmosphere that I look forward to diving into.
- If they could have only ended with a crunch... I hurt for Huber that "The Evil Within 2" wasn't announced. In due time, Mike, in due time.
3.5/5

RE: Photoshop Allies Thread
@Mechanoid said in Photoshop Allies Thread:
Here's some new ones. Couldn't figure out what to put in the triangle underneath Kyle. Any suggestions?
I'm thinking Kyle should be in the triangle with a large, sinister Woz overlooking him

RE: Music Discussion!
Always fun to have music threads in a forum. While I enjoy most genres - if the first page or so is any indication on how this thread will go, I'll get a proper introudction into some things I never touch like K-Pop. Anyhow, I'm dedicating this post to Beach House - the dream pop duo from Baltimore.
