    • RE: What Was Your First Game?

Ms Pac Man - I was still under 5 when I first played a video game back in the 80's, I remember playing Ms. Pac Man. My Mom would take me down to my aunts restaurant where she worked at nearly everyday. In the restaurant my aunt owned a table version of Ms.Pac Man. I would spend most my day there playing while my mom worked.

I wasn't the greatest player but I remember a lot of fond memories there playing with my cousins and my mom at times. It was the only arcade cabinet we had for years there. I was later given an atari 2600 as my very first gaming console with mac man on it but we all know it wasnt the same.

    • RE: !! where are the old GameTrailers videos? will be back and downloadable someday??

They no longer have ownership to the trailer library they once had. IGN has taken ownership and is trying to keep alive most of, if not all the old content and feature new game trailers on the old gametrailers.com youtube page.

You can try and see if you can find what you're looking for at - https://www.youtube.com/c/gametrailers

      hope its helpful

    • RE: Opening Cinematics

      @TheOtherJohnP said in Opening Cinematics:

Tales of Zestiria's opening was amazing. It's not often I'll watch the opening cinematic every time I load up a game, but I did for that.

      Recently I've been enjoying FFXIV's opening: https://youtu.be/1mRzWLRWOXc

FFXIV opening gives me goosebumps every time I see it, great pick!!

I also remember FFXI and World of Warcraft having a similar feeling back in their beginning.

    • RE: Are consuming experience media a waste of time?

I also agree with the 2nd friend.

I think it's totally acceptable to replay games. I can see why the 1st friend and others can move on after reading or watching a book or movie. A movie and book will not differ from the first time experience but I believe that games differ. Sure most game stories will be the same but the gameplay will differ. Your experience will differ, you may die in a different place or tackle a boss a different way. For other games where it may have branching story lines, then replaying the game can add to multiple replays. For games without story and built for only gameplay, will only really come down to what your end goals are each time you play. For some its to achieve a the high score, for some it can be speedrun times, or some just for the challenge it invokes each time you play it.

Games at their core are created to challenge or motivate your brain to solve the scenario you're playing through. It's just that story has also become a strong influence in game development. How much challenge that game was for you or how much fun you had beating that game should be the bigger question. If it was too easy and provides no challenge, then there might be motivation to move on.

Not to forget the games that are designed to simply immerse you in a world. You return every time you want to get away from the real world and enter your favorite world. Should you return to those games? Well ask yourself why you go back to your favorite real life locations. The answer might be very similar.

    • RE: Your EZA Origin

      Great stories!

My tale with EZA and GT started in their early years before they had Invisible walls and when the site was mostly a dumping ground for game trailers. I came across the site when looking for a site that had, well.... game trailers. Before I found GT I had primarily used IGN and other means of finding trailers but I think one day I just went ahead and typed www.gametrailers.com in the address bar and behold a site dedicated to my love of gametrailers. I know right!! IDK why I never thought of doing that before. Back then I searched for the hottest new trailers on a regular daily basis as it was more common back then and I felt game trailers gave the best impressions of what a hot new game was going to be about.

Then I noticed GT was starting to gear towards their own hosted shows or media. I remember Monty Oums first video posted on the site and I even uploaded my own edited trailers to the site. Invisible Walls and all the following shows were great and I'd watch them all weekly. I stood by the site and its cast for all these years, I even tried writing for Daniel kayser's Epic Battle Axe blog, although it was for a briefly short period due to life getting in the way. To this day, I still follow the old cast on their other ventures and social media, but obviously my weekly love is continuing to watch and support the current cast and EZA. Of all the years with GT, this truly is the best cast of gamers I enjoy listening to on a weekly basis. E3's are the best of times with this crew and I always look forward to all the content they create each week.

    • RE: Is the Scorpio enough to make you switch mid generation?

I am a current gen console owner (PS4) and have a great PC rig, so for myself.. I can't really see the benefit of making the leap to a what I call a 2.0 system (PS4 Pro/Scorpio). Mostly for the reason you mentioned above. I think I would rather wait and see if a new PS5 or new Xbox gen will come soon after.

I am happy with the video quality of my current gen and will enjoy the games coming out on my PS4 or if not then my PC. If 2017 comes around and we might not see a next gen till 2020 or something like that then I may consider later on to make the leap at a later time. I have yet to get a 4k tv anyways and my main reason atm would be for the PSVR I'm getting to look a bit better.

    • RE: Last game you finished

@matt I agree, did a lot of skipping through. played both in crushing, then revisited chapters for the trophies. Still all 3 games have great stories but I got other games to play.

    • RE: What Allies have VR here?

I work at Best Buy so I have tried all 3. Vibe wins hands down as terms of tech, Oculus has great support from not only game industry but other media areas, and PSVR is a step in the right direction for gamers.

I will probably be going with the PSVR, the price is great and the games coming will entertain me enough to justify the purchase. VR is still in an early age so who knows, maybe one day I will get that Vibe or Oculus for experiences not found on PSVR but I cant fully justify spending that much money just yet to be an early adopter. Especially with the chance that a newer version of VR might come in 3-5 years. I'm only jumping in early because VR has convinced me through early testing in store that it's a great experience. Now just time to wait for those games to come out. Resident Evil 7 will probably be my first major reason to buy.

    • RE: PS4 Pro or new GPU for my gaming PC?

Both sides have their advantages to be able to get the most out of your 4k tv, I could see you happy with either one.

What it comes down to is games, games, games. Seeing that you probably already have a good library of games on the PC, getting the 1070 will allow you to play them with better graphics, although I would still invest on a better CPU if you want to get those really high ultra settings on some games. So chances are that you could go nicely with a cheaper vid card if you plan to play most the same games and just want to see them look prettier.

I would agree that PC does have the best prices for games (steam, humble bundles, even certain sites will give their games out for free as a promo every once in awhile). Although I wouldn't neglect that you can and probably will find that Playstation gamers have good access to cheap games and free games every month. PSN plus will reward you with enough games to fill your time every month and PSN usually has decent sales going on almost always. subscribe yourself to cheapassgamer on twitter and you will see that there's enough deals going on a lot. Not to mention gamestop, best buy and other retailer deals. I have found that most games drop price really quick anyways, so you have a good chance of getting the game you want sooner or later.

On the side of getting a PS4 over the 1070, its all about those exclusives. I'm a PC and PS4 gamer, primarily for those exclusives. I can get those Xbox games sooner or later on PC or PS4. but PS4 first/second party exclusives are a must for owning a PS4. You can even get your hands on some of those exclusives you missed out on with PS3 via remasters or rereleases. Sure you can also now subscribe to PSNow on PC and enjoy them if they become available on that network.

The only argument against getting a PS4 Pro would have been if you already had a PS4 and were only upgrading or if you by chance were willing to wait and see if maybe in a year or two, they'll announce a PS5. Sony seems to be on a wait and see how Xbox scorpio does before thinking ahead kind of moment.

To wrap it up, think of the games you WANT to play and are interested in that will be coming out for the next 2-3 years. Thats where I would put my money. My personal choice if I had your current rig, would be PS4 or PS4 pro. mostly for the games. I find that most the games I like on PC would probably run ok if I had your current rig and if not then I can enjoy them on PS4.
