I've been going back and forth about my continued funding of EZA for a month or two now. I got in on their work back on Game Trailers and have supported them on Twitch and Patreon since the beginning of EZA. I'm not looking for attention or a response, I simply hope this feedback reaches at least one of them there.
EZA was always a positive, professional, passionate, and respectful source for game information and entertainment. It was this positivity and passion in particular, that made me see them as special and valued enough to support. This has come to an end for me, and I think it is time to speak with my wallet and see if things change in the future to make me want to come back.
While they've always been passionate about different things, generally they covered a good variety of games and systems. These past months things have turned so heavily towards Nintendo coverage that I find myself struggling to find things I'd like to watch shows I used to follow. EZA should talk about things they like, but there should also be some balance to things. While it is discouraging to have the only system dedicated shows be for one console, in particular, it gets particularly troublesome when even the console neutral shows are seemingly filled with talk regarding that console as well.
The PSX reaction show is what finally had me decide it was time to pull out. No one had to like it, nor think it was perfect in any way, but the general mood and lack of respect towards it were too much. Ok, you wanted it to be more, no problem. Nothing did enough for you to make you excited, ok as well. The issue was the general negativity, the general lack of professional respect towards the presentation. It is one thing to decide at the end it underwhelmed you, it is another to fill most of the show with negativity towards it. When you start joking about attendees/Allies not wanting to be there, how you wish you were playing some other companies games instead, or console warrior comments towards sales numbers reported in the shows, it is just more typical negative game journalism.
This is not the EZA I became a fan of and wanted to help support. You guys like a lot of games and are not fanboys, well except Damiani. The shows you put out shouldn't make it seem like the opposite.
