Finally got my Marvel vs Capcom cabinet from Best Buy and got it all set up. Very happy with how it turned out.

RE: Marvel's Avengers (Square Enix)
@jamicov Just got started messing with Kate and her story missions. So far I've really been enjoying it. My hope is that these new characters/story pieces start to bring more people into the fold, at least enough to where Square doesn't pull the plug on this game too early. So far we just know Hawkeye is next and Spider Man is coming at some point. All the rumors of Black Panther are also so strong I do believe he's coming after Clint. If those characters are as much fun as the rest of the cast and the story stuff brings in more variety the game could be in pretty good shape come mid next year. I really just want that rumored roster of like 20+ more characters to become reality, this game has a ton of protentional as well as a lot of issues but the financial news from a few weeks ago was extremely troubling. I still have hope this game can be turned around, but what can I say, I'm a true believer ; )

RE: GOTY 2020 Frontrunners
@jdincinerator I also loved Huntdown, personally it didn't hit that high of marks for me to think of it as a GOTY contender but totally loved that game and so glad Don was able to champion it and give it it's much deserved light in this community.

RE: GOTY 2020 Frontrunners
@axel I'm in the same boat, the biggest stand outs for me personally were TLOU 2 and FF7 remake, but for me its TLOU 2. Obviously this game hit people differently but I'm in the group that was just completely floored, what they were going for landed on me hook, line and sinker (is that even the saying?). FF7 remake was pretty much exactly what I wanted and more, I 100% loved being back in that world and can't wait to get more.
Other notable games for sure are AC New Horizons and Ghost. While I dropped off AC after a few months I adored my time with it and it's been pretty impressive to see my wife still playing it and the devs still giving reasons to do so with the changes every month and holiday events. Ghost I still have to beat but they really nailed it for me. For exploration and combat combined with a decent story and fantastic setting.
OH! Also Miles Morales was freaking amazing too. Loved 2018 Spider Man and this add-on was fantastic as well.
Playing AC Valhalla now and super enjoying it as well, but don't know if I think its a contender really. Didn't play Doom or Hades but I like what i've been hearing about Hades.

RE: Videogame Hot takes
@paulmci27 No kidding, i just looked up X-men vs Street Fighter and its going for over $500. One of the draws for me of getting a Saturn was they were the only console to have the old Capcom Dungeon's and Dragons beat'em but luckily those did get rereleased on the PS3. There's just something about the Saturn that makes me want to play old sprite based fighters.

RE: Videogame Hot takes
@e_zed_eh_intern Didn't have an N64 during its gen but of course almost all my friends had one so I got to play it a good amount and I think it had some really good stuff on it. However, over all there wasn't a ton I'd be interested in playing today. The Saturn on the other hand always had a soft spot in my heart, through out the years always thought about picking one up but never pulled the trigger. I still think about getting one.

RE: Videogame Hot takes
@naltmank As someone who plays a lot of games but finishes almost none of them I have to agree. I think there's still a lot of gamers that only see value in games for their run times and not for the quality of the experience. If I could only get a couple games a year I could understand wanting games that last a long time but so often those experiences are just lacking, its hard to make a compelling 100+ hour game.

RE: Marvel's Avengers (Square Enix)
Rough news...
https://www.ign.com/articles/marvels-avengers-hasnt-recouped-its-development-costs-yetMy biggest worry about this game is exactly this, the game doesn't sell well and Square-Enix stops support for it. The first part is now the reality and with loses like this I don't even know if it's in their best interest to continue to support it. I really do hope they can turn the game around as I really enjoy it and want to see them be able to support it with all the rumored characters and such. If nothing else it seems like at the very least we'll get both Hawkeyes, Spider-Man and most likely Black Panther. Maybe another PS5/Series X rerelease with all this new stuff could give it a second wind but I do feel like that will only work if word of mouth gets much better as the general impression most people have is that the game is a failure.

RE: Videogame Hot takes
Spoiler
I'd like that for the 3 days in Seattle but i dunno about the flashbacks being first. They would need to be reworked to have more of the game flow of exploration, combat and movie as most of those were mostly just movie with some exploration.
! Spoiler
I would dig the three days more if they were kinda like at the same time, in my head that works, but in practice it might not have been as impactful. Hard to say.Sorry to derail, I'll give another hot take to make up for it. SF3 3rd strike is better than all the SF2 games.
