    • RE: Controversial opinion on EZA

@suplextrain said in Controversial opinion on EZA:

All they would need to do is refocus their efforts

Without alienating the people who are already paying them $42k for the content they are already focusing on. In reality you're not asking for different content, you're asking for more content. They aren't going to cancel content they've promised to people to make different content, that would be risking Patreon suicide. Frankly, I enjoy Frame Trap, EZ Up, Fiasco, etc. I'd be pretty pissed off if you had them "refocus" their efforts into doing a weekly pre produced skit show instead.

What's stopping them from doing scripted stuff now?

Logistics. The fact that they are only together as a group twice a week, live scattered across LA, work out of their individual homes, have to constantly reshuffle equipment, and have to spend most of their time transferring data back and forth via either the internet or by driving hours across LA with a data drive to get any data edited and uploaded to Youtube, and that they have to try and deliver the things they've promised to everyone at the tiers they have paid for.

A Studio will allow them to have:

      • A persistent AV and shooting setup. Instead of a garage they reconfigure for every show.

      • A place in a more centralized location where at least some of them gather on a daily basis, thus giving them instant access to each other. The Garage is neat, but it's a garage, it's Brandon/Amanda/Sophie's home and even though it's jolly - they can't realistically run a 8 or 9 person media production business out of it 5 days a week.

      • A centralized location for data (I need footage for X, it's in Damiani's office vs I need footage for X, Damiani has been uploading it to our server for 4 hours or I can get it from him on Sunday/Tuesday when I see him next)

      • Free time brought on by greater efficiency and increased/more consistent working hours caused by the above factors

      • The fact that this type of content is what has been exactly and literally indicated to being contingent on a studio space since the very inception of EZA. I too would like to see more "shows". That's why I'm hoping they reach their studio goal.

Again, just explaining things as I see them (and has been repeatedly explained by Jones and other Allies). If you want to cancel your patronage, I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't. that's your business. I'm just saying that from my perspective it's the wrong way to go about getting what you want from EZA. :)

I actually hate video games, I just keep playing them because I also dislike fun.

    • RE: Man, I want a comedy news show like Mandatory Update.

@suplextrain said in Man, I want a comedy news show like Mandatory Update.:

You saying it's amongst their more popular content?

It is averaging over 9k views per show over the last 10 weeks, and if you go back another 10 weeks, it's even higher. This compares pretty favorably to many of the other shows. So I have actual youtube numbers to back me up.

Looking at the Patreon funded content, there's 6 funded shows. Blood can probably correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd say just by eyeballing it, in terms of youtube viewership, it's Frame Trap, Friend Code, EZ Update, Tabletop, Huber Syndrome, Reaction Shots, in that order. And the top two are podcasts.

You also keep calling it "Mandatory Update"? You're aware that's a totally different show, right?

Personally, I know many more people who enjoy EZ Update than not. You may be the opposite, but that doesnt mean that either one of us is qualified to say what "most people think" about it

Edit: Technically Cup of Jones is probably the "show" with the lowest YT viewership. It's in the hundreds. It's locked content though, so I didn't count it.

I'm gonna be honest, anyone who has problems reading the original list of games you provided - the issue is with them. It's color coded, and sorted by release date, people. No list we'd make would be any easier to read than that. You "forget" something? That's on you bruh. I read that list on mobile and did fine. :)

I disagree that anything has to change. The tools are provided.

But most people don't agree with you. After all Easy Update gets amongst the least views out of their more recent shows

This is not actually true. Unless your definition of "amongst" includes nearly everything outside of the Main podcasts, reviews, and Retros. (You said SHOWS. So like Huber Syndrome, EZ Anime, Reaction Shots, etc) Also, I think you should probably not try to ascribe a position for "most" people unless you've polled "most" people. This seems a lot like a personal opinion projected onto others.

@sabotagethetruth said in The Naughty Dog Agenda:

SO many games that star a straight white male protagonist that happens to be buff and is named Jack or Tom or John yet I don't think any one of us would claim that's an agenda being pushed

I mean, it may not be a conscious or malicious agenda, but it's DEFINITELY an agenda. They are aiming to appeal to a demographic, they are trying to enable a specific type of power fantasy.

The word "agenda" is being treated like its some kind of bogeyman. An agenda is just a plan. All those straight, white, buff dudes are just as planned as any thing else. Naughty Dog's plan is to have better female characters in their games that are treated like real people.

If there's a discussion in here, you're gonna have to stop throwing around code words like "PC nonsense" and "SJW agenda" and say what you mean. If you're so comfortable in your beliefs, just say them out loud and own it.

Are you mad that Ellie is a woman? Are you mad that this woman character happens to be a lesbian, and is therefore not expressly created to sexually titillate you? Are you mad that she kills men? Does that bother you? What is the ACTUAL issue? Must all games and all developers cater to the tastes of you specifically? Let's have an honest talk and unpack aaaaallll the gross shit we're dancing around here.

      Spit it out!

I think The Citadel, from Mass Effect is one of those places to me.

The explorable area may not have been all that big, but it always seemed massive in my mind because they did a great job with the environment and sky box. You meet some of the most memorable characters there, and interact in an environment where multiple alien life forms are supposedly living and interacting with each other, like a star trek kinda atmosphere. It was cool. It had mysteries. I always loved going back tho the Citadel.

Jones: Has the power of the golden voice. He's mastered tone and inflection to the point where he can influence others with his speech, and even find vocal harmonies with his words that can shatter glass.

Sophie: Can almost leap onto a table in a single bound. It's nearly impossible to resist petting and lavishing attention onto Sophie when in her presence.

Bosman: By day, he's a mild mannered journalist, but by night, he swallows a chemical formula that transforms him into a giant, beastly Shigeru Miyamoto.

Ben can generate a holographic waifu with the power of his mind that appears so realistically, that unless physically touched - is indistinguishable from the real life Chie.

Bloodworth is actually a centuries old vampire. He has become immune to sunlight and has a literal "Blood Tub". Has all the regular vampire abilities. Can turn into mist, super strength. Looks appropriate in a top hat.

Huber: Once his hype levels are fully charged, hes immune to most kinds of physical damage. His ultimate form is capable of making hype dreams into reality.

Ian's power is empathy. He's able to imagine himself in other people's shoes so well that he can basically predict other people's future behaviors and instantly know when they are dishonest or are being influenced by others. Also, his fingernails change colors depending on his moods.

Brad is possessed by the spirit of Justice. Kind of like Anders in Dragon Age II. (Keep your eye on him!) This spirit gives him insight into the complexities of right and wrong and will allow him to be unquestioned when passing judgement on other allies. Until he eventually snaps and turns heel, I suppose.

Don's power is that of entropy. Essentially a passive ability, Don introduces chaos into chaos-free systems, entropy causes the unexpected to always occur around Don. He can sometimes tap into the chaos and "read" it, but can usually not influence it in one way or another (as this would be applying order to chaos, and that's not his bag). Don frequently uses his brief insights into the abyss to gain an edge in gambling and to tap into the primal essence of chaos to solve crimes. He has to maintain a random ratio of crimes solved to gambling though. Wouldn't want there to be a pattern.

Damiani can single out an aspect of another person's personality (a weakness of character, like a sweet tooth, or nervous tic) and cause it to take over their entire personality temporarily. He uses this largely for his own amusement at this time.
