tomoko - I was watching Watamote and hanging out in IRC, and at some point I changed my nick to this and decided it was a keeper. "tomoko" in all lowercase just looks very appealing to me as a handle, and I think I feel a bit of my personality in it as well. People also seem to get really upset whenever they're defeated by someone named tomoko with an anime avatar! Sometimes I go by tomokers instead.

@marcel I also notice there is no report function for posts, but that's probably because there aren't any mods about yet.
Anticipate these things will get sorted out once the soft launch is over as well as E3!
I found it! Click the little three vertical dot column... thingy next to the upvote/downvote counter on a post, and you'll see a small menu with an option that allows you to flag a post for moderation. :surfer:

RE: Shareware is back!! What games would you like to see use this model?
I have to agree with those saying "all games". Demos were awesome back in the day for a variety of reasons (checking to see if your rig can run the game and how well, hard financial times, just messing around, etc.), and I was pretty bummed about how a lot of developers in this generation have decided that they aren't worth it. I haven't gotten around to playing the new DOOM demo yet, but I have been so excited to play that game since it was announced and am glad that I'll get a chance to do so sooner rather than later. In particular, my computer isn't very good, so I'm excited to see both how it runs on my PC as well as how nice the controls feel on the PS4 and then weigh my options before making my purchasing decision.
I support anything that helps the consumer make more healthy purchasing decisions. No one likes to buy a game and realize that they regret spending money on it, or that they can't really play it because of things out of their control. There are Steam refunds and such, sure, but it's kind of an excessive amount of hassle when most people just want to try the game out and see if it clicks with them. I also believe that it helps curb piracy, as a lot of people are known to pirate games simply to see if they like them before buying. Although some people want to believe otherwise, $60 is a lot of money, and the buyer should have some way to assure the quality of what they're buying before they do so. Considering that games are such a subjective experience as compared to other mediums, I think it's perfectly fair for people to feel that reviews simply aren't enough to make an informed decision.

RE: What are you watching?
Just recently finished up a watchalong of Twin Peaks that I did with a bunch of my closest friends, and it couldn't have gone better. I had seen the first season several times, but for some odd reason something always seemed to go wrong while I was watching the second season, which had led to me never finishing it. I had a whim to rewatch the series and brought it up to them, and so we all decided to watch one episode per night.
Coincidentally the series finale ended up being watched on June 10th, which was 25 years to the day that it had first aired. Considering that 25 years is something mentioned in the specific episode... yeah. I still get chills thinking about it. It was a pretty magical watch. We're planning to do Fire Walk with Me and The Missing Pieces soon, but we're taking a small break just to let that finale sink in.
Other than that, I'm beginning a rewatch of Curb Your Enthusiasm (grew up watching it on TV, but it's a lot funnier now that I'm old enough to understand the jokes) and contemplating trying to make it through Game of Thrones so that I can enjoy the last season (is it the last season? I'm talking about the next one, not the currently airing one.) with everyone. Not entirely sure if the series is for me, but I haven't heard this much raving about a show since Breaking Bad, and that turned out to be a fav of mine.

RE: How long have you been an ally?
I was an avid visitor of the site back when they were partnered with ScrewAttack, but didn't really get into GT as a whole until about two or so years ago when I discovered The Final Bosman by chance in a NeoGAF thread (maybe it's been three years?). From then on, I was hooked to that show and over time began to start dabbling in the podcasts and such, which led me to find that I really really enjoy this particular crew. There's something wonderful about the lack of unwarranted cynicism that I feel is lacking from almost every other outlet out there. At this point, I've pretty much stopped following any other games journalists (aside from a few that specialize in longwinded critical YouTube analysis) because they all pale in comparison to EZA.
I also remember loving the site because it was so much better to download trailers and gameplay demos as raw video files instead of suffering quality loss through streaming.

RE: I love this forum layout.
Yeah, I gotta say, I'm very happy with this choice as well. I've been admiring Discourse from afar for quite some time now, but unfortunately never had a server powerful enough to run it myself and most of the forums I run into that use the system are forums that don't really hold my interest. It's really a considerable step up from the old forum software of olde thus far! Everything I dreamed of.

RE: What are your plans for this summer?
Not much this year, I'm afraid. I'm in a somewhat difficult/completely unexpected situation with a school debt that has taken away most of my summer, but it's not too bad because I've been able to knock a lot of things off of my backlog! Looking forward to Zero Time Dilemma in particular, which I've taken a couple days of work off for. Other than that, I've gotten through Uncharted 3 and 4 and am working on Yakuza 3, Demon's Souls ,and StarCraft 2. Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise?
