    • RE: Switch Presentation Event Betting Special!

Results are in and the EZA Forums Champion(s) for the Nintendo Switch Presentation Event 2017 goes to:
      Tragosaurus & @TheHashtag0nist
...with a tied score of 10.

The next highest with a score of 9 was @kin. Kin was a dreamer and nobody can fault you on that.

There were seven competitors with a score of 8, all of which lost points for thinking the Switch would cost less.

Shoutout to @holy_angel_mx for getting the most Dirty Bet points with 3/6 bets scored.
Another shoutout to @Brandon_Reister, @DisturbedSwan, @Oscillator and @Whiskeyjack for getting the Double Down on Don points.

Good betting everybody! I look forward to the next betting special.

    • RE: E3 Forum Betting Special 2018

@SabotageTheTruth We can certainly come up with a way to break a tie for future bets. I think some sort of bet we all come up with and agree upon which involves numbers as a tie-breaking-bet would work the best. For now we'll just make it a boring tie.

      @Sentinel-Beach can't be stopped.

@Brannox usually being a pessimist works out in your favor for betting, as Sentinel Beach would proclaim.

@TokyoSlim I didn't know yours was a weak bet until afterwards because you could have madlibbed that game title together for all I knew. In the future we all should call each other out for weak bets. My job isn't video games so I can't be Bosman yelling at people to make it spicier, but by our powers combined we might just stand a chance.

Time for me to go back into hibernation until the next betting special.

I just joined the forums today so I sadly missed this list but I'm excited to see the results and partake in whatever the next list is.

    • RE: Welcome to the Easy Allies Forums!

Hey everyone. I'm new to the forums as well. I have been following Easy Allies since the their beginning but never really followed Gametrailers. Joystiq shut down a while back and it wasn't until I stumbled upon the E3 of Dreams reaction video that I decided to seriously check them out as EzA and find a new gaming content home. Since then I have gone back and watched a lot of the old GT stuff that I missed like The Final Bosman, Mandatory Update, and Tabletop Adventures. I don't have any real life friends who share the same love for video games as I do so I decided it was final time for me to come out of the shadows and start interacting with everyone here.

I'm watching the Brad and Damiani play KH:CoM VOD and finally learned the background to The Crunch. I never knew and since this thread just started and is relevant thought I'd post.

"The Crunch came from a story from Mike's brother with Taco Bell. Always save a hard taco for last. Crunch. Then it turned into them making it for a stream, crunching on a stream".

    • RE: [Official] What are you playing?

I just started play Shovel Knight for the first time last night. It is absolutely a blast.

It took a while to get used to the controls though. It felt really weird at first that when you are jumping you just completely stop moving if you let go of the directional button. I fell into a hole way too many times in the beginning because that aspect just felt so weird. It also took me a while get used to playing a 2D sidescroller like this with the joystick, I always feel more comfortable using the D-pad. However it felt even worse for me trying to jump on someone with the D-pad than joystick so I had to teach myself to use the latter.

The music is so good! The animations and cutscenes are great. I love the map that you move around SMB3 style, even complete with enemies that move around the map as well. That town is so jolly. They really nailed the old school look and feel. I can't believe it took me this long to finally get around to it.

    • RE: Persona 5 (PS4/PS3)

I took off of work yesterday for a couple reasons, one of which definitely being just to sit down and play a ton of this game.
This is my first Persona game and I am absolutely loving it so far. Everything in the game has so much charm. I think they do a really good job of easing you into all of the systems, especially as a complete newcomer. I think it helped that I was able to dedicate a whole session to get through the tutorial segment.
It didn't take much counseling for me to turn my back on club POOP (People Overtly Opposed (to) Persona). [coined by @SabotageTheTruth December 16, 2016]

    • RE: E3 of Dreams 2017

Just a few, many of which have already been mentioned.

      • Final Fantasy VII Remake: Part 1 with a Holiday 2017 release date.
      • Pokemon Stars is not just a port of Sun/Moon to the Switch, but a game where you control the camera with the right analog stick. Also battles play out more like Final Fantasy X than standard Pokemon.
      • Dark Cloud 3 announcement trailer. This would never have been on my radar if Brad didn't mention it in a previous betting special and now I can't get it out of my head.
      • Kingdom Hearts 3 with a general release date early 2018.
      • A new Ratchet & Clank game announcement. I don't really care if its a reimagining of Going Commando or a brand new title.
      • A new Jak & Daxter game. More original, less 3.

    • RE: Last game you finished

I just beat Uncharted 4: A Thief's End for the first time this weekend and good grief did I love it. I loved the pace, changing things up from combat to exploration to slight puzzling and repeat. The rope added a lot more to the exploration and combat which was great. Great insane action sequences. Awesome writing. Also I really like how 4 doesn't have any weird supernatural element in the tail end of the game and was just about people (+brother drama). I am definitely pumped on Lost Legacy now, might have to pick it up earlier than a year later.

I really like this idea but I'm mainly just going to steal some of all of your ideas that I really liked or spoke to me.

      • Don't buy games until I'm ready to play them
      • Don't buy a Switch until there's plenty worth playing on it and I have the time to play them
      • Don't feel the need to continue a game just to beat it if I'm not enjoying it

    • RE: Kill Your Babies!: Finish Off Final Fantasy!

@ACardAttack You only need to look at the PS4 Kill Your Babies thread to see how these things go. Finalists were Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Fortune and The Order: 1886. There needs to be a Kill Your Babies of forums games so Kill Your Babies can die. Its only somewhat interesting when the Allies do it and is just a massive boring trollfest in the forums.

@Gloop I think it's a really good idea. I also wasn't around during GT so I feel you in regards to not knowing a lot of the sayings and whatnot. It would also be cool to have a links to the videos where they originated if possible to reminisce.

    • RE: Favorite game developer

@Elyra These are just two comments I found regarding Naughty Dog games in the Highly Regarded Games You Just Couldn't Get Into post.

"Uncharted 2: It was far more of a back-seat driver experience. The player is more of an afterthought than the focus. I'm not a fan of that type of experience."

"Last Of Us: interesting story, everything else horrible. Cutscene, boring game play, cutscene, boring gameplay... repeat."

I don't recall what Ian has said specifically about The Last of Us and the Uncharted series but I know I've heard people say stuff like its a playable movie that mechanically isn't great. I've heard people dislike the cover based shooting but that's just personal preference. This post may seem like its ragging on the games a lot but they are some of my personal favorites. The Last of Us is a game I will probably go back and replay religiously every couple years. I just want to make sure newcomers are aware of both sides before jumping into a game just because everyone likes it. I don't know what you like so you might fall into the category of not loving the gameplay and the story not being enough to get you through. Gotta keep expectations in check.

    • RE: The EZA Community Top 25 Best of 2016!

I have the same feeling about Pokemon as a couple other people here. I played the first 2 when they first came out and I was young and loved them but kinda got burnt out past that. 3rd gen just lost some of that magic for me and I haven't played any on the DS or 3DS since I don't own them. Its cool to see that they keep making them, they are getting better, and people like them but for me its a franchise that I've played enough and are perfectly happy with skipping unless there is a serious overhaul to the gameplay.

Haven't played The Last Guardian yet but want to some day.

I'm starting to wonder if I'll see any of my other votes show up.

    • RE: Looking for a Mid range gaming PC, with a budget

I know several people already commented on the difficulty of building your own PC but I figured I'd jump in as well. It's really easy. Yes very intimidating as well. I built my first one a year ago and was so nervous of breaking something as well but everything went well. I did it completely by myself with the help of a couple youtube videos and only ran into a few minor problems. The problems I ended up having were just forgetting to provide power to something, and plugging in the display cables into the wrong ports. Nothing a couple text messages to a friend and going back over directions couldn't fix. After the fact I immediately realized how easy it was and making updates to it won't scare me in the future anymore.

    • RE: What did you just Buy/Receive?

I just bought Shovel Knight on Steam because its on sale on all fronts. I also decided to go for the mid tier in the Civilization Humble Bundle (Civ3, 4, 5, and a lot of expansions). I've never played any of those games. I've been wanting to play Shovel Knight for a while but just now finally picking it up. Civilization has always intrigued me but always seemed too daunting. Because of another thread on the forums that said they weren't too bad and they were cheap I decided to give them as shot. Not sure when I'll finally get around to playing them though.

Also I finally remembered to grab my GameCube from my parent's house yesterday. I have a bunch of great games on the shelf but didn't have anyway to play them. Definitely going to marathon Luigi's Mansion this weekend.
