    • RE: Describe Your Taste in TV Shows Using 5 Titles

      Very fun thread idea!

Black Mirror - I've been a big Charlie Brooker fan ever since he did ScreenWipe, and this anthology series is the darkest show I regularly enjoy. Verging on emotionally harrowing rather than visually disturbing, a lot of the episode plotlines can really stick with you after the episode has ended (I still cant rewatch The National Anthem).
Parks & Rec - The most recent addition to this list, I've been hooked on the upbeat nature Parks & Recs brings, something you would rarely find with this type of "awkward" comedy. The ensemble cast is incredible, each person has a different charm and they all play off each other really well.
It's Always Sunny - On the flipside, Always Sunny is just as funny but insanely pessimistic, a wonderful contrast to Parks. Whilst it has become a little more hit and miss in recent times, the show is consistently clever and when a joke lands, it lands hard.
Taskmaster - Without a doubt, this is the one show I think everyone should watch. Five contestants (usually comedians) compete in a series of eccentric challenges, all requiring some creative thinking, and all utterly absurd (e.g. "Make the best snowman (in July)", "Get a basketball through a hoop without touching it"). It's the funniest thing on TV and I adore it completely.
Only Connect - I fear OC has peaked in recent times, honestly, but I still adore this intensely puzzling quiz show. Teams are given a series of 4 clues, one after another, attempting to figure out the common link between all of them. It is potentially the hardest quiz show aired on UK TV. Marvelous stuff.

    • RE: That's News!

@Torigasa-Reta This seems to be quite a one-sided way of looking at things. I'd imagine most of the mods felt uncomfortable being associated with EvilLore and needed to distance themselves immediately. Referring to it as virtue signalling is a little...dismissive?

@jaggafredde said in Anyone here from NeoGaf?:

@Acquiescence Yeah the bans has been strange for a long time, some obviously deserved it but what you describe doesn't seem like a valid reason.

Now that my account is ended I can speak freely.

I got my first ban when openly doubting the Kinect success after my first play test. I wasn't rude or anything, I simply thought the reports after the launch would be about how it didn't work properly (which it didn't for me) rather than how awesome it was.
      Ban!
Apparently that was a too unpopular opinion at the time.

My second ban was the strangest one, by Evilore himself ironically. I made a thread where I asked if I should buy the PS3 or 360 version of Skyrim. Pretty soon the thread were filled with PC talk and I eventually asked people to talk about PC elsewhere since I didn't have a PC at that time. Evilore stept into the discussion and thought it was okay for the thread I had made to go off-topic...
But that didn't help me one bit so I edited the OP and asked PC people to take the PC talk in a PC thread instead.
      Ban!
"You don't make the rules of a thread just because you started it."

First board I've ever been to where the thread creator can't decide what the talk in the thread should be about.

As usual every ban ends with other users on the mods side mocking the banned members and applauding the harsh mod style. Disgusting attitude.

There was a large amount of pressure in starting any thread to ensure it was watertight and you weren't going to be held responsible if the topic deviated, it certainly stifled me from starting many many topics.

I once did a thread about how amiibo could be updated to have on-board memory for increased capability, and got about 50 responses of "ugh I hate amiibo", with about 3 or 4 people actually responding to the topic at hand.

    • RE: EZA Wiki

I'm not sure if this is applicable to EZA, but I started writing a Final Bosman wiki some time ago, you may be able to grab some good info from it?

    • RE: EZA: Username list! Explain your username!

Tregard - This was the name I used originally when I signed up for my first online game, Runescape. It's supposed to be the name of the main character from the British kids show "Knightmare", but I spelled it incorrectly, so therefore nobody else ever seems to use it!

@Macka I was going to say it's great to see another Survivor fan (Recently got into it!), but then you said you are a fan of The Genius and AAAH!! It's so rare to find someone else who watches that show! Have you seen all 4 seasons yet? Any favourite players or games?! :D

    • RE: Last movie you watched

Having watched Blade Runner and now 2049 over the last few days, they are really an incredible pairing. I think 2049 took the most important elements of the original but didn't tread the same ground. The cinematography was absolutely haunting in some scenes, and it was such a quiet film too, it was very different from anything I've seen recently. Star Wars has some stiff competition now for my favourite film of this season!

    • RE: Anyone here from NeoGaf?

I remember one of the last threads I made on GAF was about Xbox Live membership, and the conversation very quickly spun away from the original topic, due to the title being misleading. The mods refused to change the title because they didn't think the thread was worth the effort. Just as an insight to the environment.

Invisible mods is an awful idea honestly, you need to be able to hold regulation accountable. The rest of the changes seem valid in an attempt to restore GAF, but I think the lion's share of people have flown the coop for good

@Acquiescence Hey Acquiescence! You always were a friendly face around GAF for me. Stunned to hear you were banned for such a petty reason, you never seemed the type!

@ParanoidRED Man I've got no idea how I'm going to balance Odyssey with Stranger Things 2, especially as I don't want to miss the zeitgeist and online conversation for either!

    • RE: EZA Group Streams

People seem to be being very unfair on JBB4, it's just as good as any of the other packs from what I've played. It's only weakness is Fibbage 3 is pretty much the same as both other Fibbages. Monster Seeking Monster is a fantastic (and surprisingly strategic) game, Bracketeering is a perfect fit for the argumentative Allies, Survive The Internet (whilst not my favourite of the bunch) is very enjoyable and Civic Doodle is a fun twist on the standard "draw a thing" formula.

I fear First Fifteen Live would be quite hit and miss, with a lot of time being lost to the game introductions, not enough actual content, y'know? I suppose the benefit is swiftly moving through ~8 games.

I do think Kyle should consider Double Feature weeks, where the top 2 games from the list get an hour each. Much like the First Fifteen idea, it would vary the stream and make a larger group of voters happy with the result.
