RE: Could use some help here
@iboshow No.And to add to this. I tried to plkay The Division again and this one sends me back to dashboard after the title. screen. I spent another hour with tech support trying to solve this. Apparently, the problem is not my console or my profile. Engineers are working on it. There is just nothing I can do about it now. Just gotta wait for them to get back to me.
Could use some help here
I bought RE7 last week during Sping sale and I finally got around to play it this weekend, but I'm just unable play it anymore now. The game simply won't launch (X1X). I was able to play it for an hour or two after multiple tries, but now it's just impossible for me to even start the game and I have no idea how to fix this.
The game starts, I see the white door screen, the Capcom logo and then it gets stuck on the Havok logo screen forever. When I close the game, it turns off my xbox. Here's what I've done so far :
-Power cycle (hold down Power button for 10sec).
-Tried playing from my son's account.
-Deleted and reinstalled the game.
-Console OS reset (deletes local profiles data).
-I moved the game to an external HDD.
-I tried to erase my saved data and there are none to erase. Wtf ? I should have at least one save, because I do remember saving when reaching the first recorder.
-So, I figured maybe it's a problem with cloud save synch. I unplugged my ethernet cable to force local save; same result.
I really don't know what to do now. I tried a few other games, both digital and physical and they all work...
RE: Hall of Greats Teaser: Beginning Year (UE4)
I just checked it out and I must I am impressed. It feels cozy just walking around and watching/listening to the media you're inserted in each room. Great job !
Side note : If any of you get an error message saying you're missing dll files when trying to open the program (like I did), install UE4 which is included in the Engine folder.
RE: Gaming Unpopular opinion thread
FF9 is an average game.
-Steiner, Amarant, Quina and Eiko are boring/annoying characters
-Freya has a good backstory, but takes a back seat for the rest of the game.
-Combat is slow.
-Story had some good moments, but bored me most of the time.
-Grinding is necessary to finish the game because of the last boss.
-The soundtrack is average, one of the weakest from Uematsu. Not many tracks that I can say I enjoy.
Relevant to this, here's my personnal ranking of the series :
Haven't played 2 and 3 yet. X-2 would probably rank in the bottom half. I don't remember enough of it to rank it properly.
RE: Last game you finished
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Good jRPG, not great.I liked the combat system although it could feel slow at times. I prefered the pace of XC1 battles. The story was decent, but filled with anime tropes and eye-rolling moments. I would cut chapter 4 entirely and streamline the Blades affinity chart. So much times wasted searching for specific mobs just trying to fill my main blades charts. I also didn't like that we couldn't decide what kind of blade we could get and who would be bonded with it. It felt unnecessarily tedious and time consuming.
All in all, I had a good time playing the game. It does a decent job providing a jRPG on the Switch, but the game had too many systems :
-Blades Affinity Charts
-Blade Auxiliary Cores
-Drivers Affinity Charts
-Driver Arts exp
-Driver food preference
-Blade food preference
There is so much customization in the game that it feels like each element doesn't matter that much. I think the game would be better if some of the fat was trimmed. And don't me started on Poppi's minigame. The game itself isn't so bad, but it requires way too much time and I just stopped using Poppi as soon as I could. I finished the game in about 135 hours.
RE: Your top 10 Games of 2017
I'll just copy and paste my post from resetera :)
- Horizon Zero Dawn - This game has it all : gameplay, story, technical achievement. Had a great time with it.
- Persona 5 - My first time playing a Persona game and I loved it.
- Super Mario Odyssey - This game is just pure joy.
- Uncharted: The Lost Legacy - It's more Uncharted and that's perfectly fine with me. Awe-inspiring locations.
- Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age – I loved it back in 2006 and now it’s even better.
- Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - Very good jRPG. It only makes me wish it was available on those 4k consoles. Great music and fun battle system.
- Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle – This game is surprisingly good and offers a lot of strategy depth.
I haven't played Zelda yet, but I doubt it would break my top 3.
RE: The Easy Allies 2017 Playstation Experience Betting Special!
I feel like this was their best betting special yet, or at least the funniest one to watch for me. I prefer when they're just being themselves, not wearing costumes.
RE: Games that blew your mind
@Whiskeyjack yeah Bioshock was pretty great on that aspect for me as well, it also helped that it was one of the first games from the previous gen that I played and seeing the jump from the previous gen was just astounding, similar to my experience with the first Assassins Creed, which was the actual first game from last gen I got to play.
I feel like I should have mentionned Assassin's Creed in there as well. That was the first game that felt "next-gen" when it came out. There really was nothing else like it and I liked it a lot. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I also really liked that cliffhanger ending. It made me excited for the sequel.
RE: Games that blew your mind
For me, the biggest plot twist I've seen in a game was the "Would you kindly" part of Bioshock. I didn't see it coming at all.
I also remember the 15yo me being completly blown away by how good FF6 and Chrono Trigger looked when they first came out. The opera scene was pure delight and when I reached Earthbound Island in CT, I just sat there watching and listening to the music. Good memories.
RE: Lost Sphear (PC/PS4/NS, 23rd January)
Played the demo, didn't even finish it there's no way I'm playing through a whole game with this combat.
Gotta agree with you there. The demo was very boring and felt uninspired. Maybe it's because we don't have the full context being dropped in the middle of a story portion, but it was quite boring. I'm gonna pass on this one. I'm beginning to think Tokyo RPG Factory simply would be able to live up to people's expectations.
RE: Monster Hunter: World (PS4/XB1/PC)
I'm gonna be playing the beta this weekend. This is gonna be my 2nd attempt to get into the franchise. My first one was with MH Tri on the Wii. I could see the potential, but the controls felt too clunky and the inventory management was tedious. I'm hoping this one improves on those aspects.
